Lousey Lawyer

Mrs Erin Richmond took over my case from the attorney who was originally assigned to it without my knowledge. My case was classified as "internet stalking" but was later reduced to harrassement(no minors involved). In 1987 I meet a woman by the name of Jennifer Ann Thigpen of Asheboro NC who after 3 ...months of trying to get pregnante by me- she said at the time she was in love with me-and whom I found out later was the college prostitute dumped me for someone else. This experience left emotional and psychological scares that are still there to this day. After 16 years of emotional problems I decided to get even with her for what she did to me by posting on the internet a profile describing her to others. While it is true she did me wrong I am honest enough to say I was wrong in doing what I did. When Mrs Richmond started the case she immediately intitated a hostile and very negative attitude toward me, when I told her that there were questions about me and Jennifers relationship at that time that I wanted answers to she said "you will never get those answers". The DA who was handling the plantiffs (Jennifer) side had initiated a no contact order without her (Jennifer) knowledge or consent, I believe that Mrs. Richmond was in on this. The day before I was to be sentenced both the DA and Mrs Richmond offered me a deal but the catcher was that I had to pleade guilty to an assualt charge that was not true in order for me to do my time (16 months) in county jail rather than DOC, Mrs. Richmond told me that if I didn't take it I was going to do 40+years and she and the DA backed me into a corner where I had no choice but to agree to it against my wishes or consent. Mrs Erin Richmond attitude toward me (her client) was other than encouraging and helpful. During the sentencing the evidence that would have helped my case presented by my wife was ignored both by the DA and Mrs Richmond and was then thrown out and the DA made some unkind remarks about me and Mrs Richmond did nothing to object to the remarks nor pleade on my behalf. In closing Mrs Richmonds attitude and behavior was unbecoming to the profession and I would not recommend her to anyone.

I am sorry that you were dissatisfied with my representation. However, your recitation of the events and circumstances of your case is highly inaccurate. I represented you when I was a public defender. I remember your cases very well. I am limited in what I can post because of attorney-client confidentiality. Mr. L., I can assure you that I never in any way conspired with the District Attorney against you. Contrary to your posting, as your attorney I was not able to offer you a plea deal, only the District Attorney could do that. I was obligated to thoroughly explain any plea offers extended to you, and that is what I did in your case. In fact, at your request, I was able to negotiate a more favorable plea deal than what the District Attorney originally offered. At a sentencing hearing, the District Attorney is permitted to make statements about your case and you. Often those statements cast a defendant in a negative light. That is not something I can object to. In addition, at a sentencing hearing your wife, or anyone else you want to, can make statements in support of you. I do not control, nor does the District Attorney, who chooses to make a statement in support of you, nor do I control what they say. At your sentencing hearing I did, as I always do, make a statement in support of you, highlighting for the Court your positive qualities, and appealing to the Court to accept the plea deal that had been negotiated. If you truly feel that my representation was in any way unethical or sub-par, then I would encourage you to file a complaint with the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation. I am confident that the representation I provided to you was excellent. In nearly 10 years of practice, and representing thousands of clients, I have never even had a complaint against me that was found to be worth investigating, much less substantiated.
