Kaela’s practice consists of domestic relations cases, including cases with complex financial issues, the valuation of businesses and professional practices, trusts, and the allocation of parental responsibilities. Her practice includes cases with complicated parenting issues involving substance use, domestic violence, neurodivergent and special needs children.
Kaela also represents clients entering into premarital, marital, and cohabitation agreements.
Prior to entering private practice, Kaela worked for a judge in Denver District Court. During this time, she sat through hundreds of hearings and drafted orders on behalf of the court. She has the ability to view cases through the perspective of an attorney but also as a judge. With these different viewpoints, she advises her clients on the advantages of settlement versus litigation. Kaela empowers her clients to make decisions in their cases with their futures and best interests in mind.
Kaela is an active member of the Colorado Bar Association. She is the Chair of the Executive Council of the Young Lawyers Division. Specifically, Kaela is passionate about programming that focuses on attorney wellness and well-being. With Chelsea, Kaela is the Co-Chair of the Family Law Section’s Legislative Policy Committee. In this role, Kaela works with and advises members of the legislature and Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association about the impacts of proposed bills and legislation on the practice of family law and its implications on courts, litigants, and families.
