Wendi Sue Temkin

Wendi came to speak (for free) at my child's preschool regarding a Living Trust and Living Will. It was something we always intended to "get around to" once life was less busy. After hearing her speak, we decided almost immediately to hire her and get the process going. She explained everything to us... in detail, asked us the "hard" questions with a very personable approach, and we walked out of our meetings with peace of mind. It was my husband’s idea that we needed to establish a trust. After meeting with Wendi, I learned about how to protect ourselves and our son from disadvantageous tax situations and probate court. Making decisions for the trust made us address issues that we may have never discussed otherwise until ...it was too late. For example, we may not have dealt with powers of attorney or a living will until after we were already incapacitated. Wendi made a time-consuming process much easier to complete through her check-lists, templates, and clear instructions for every task. The binder she put together for us is so thorough and makes something overwhelmingly complicated possible to understand and follow. Temkin Law offers a thorough service. Wendi's calm and organized manner made it easier for us to follow the process through to the end. She answered my questions clearly, until I totally understood the answer. Wendi was very patient and took the time to understand our circumstances and needs. O...ften questions came up for me after our meetings. She was very timely with her responses to my questions. Wendi asked great questions, that got me thinking in different ways. For example, I used to think "that tree I'd like to buy to plant in the yard is kind of expensive." Now I think about it and say, "Do I want to plant the tree and enjoy watching it grow or do I leave $200 more to one of the many charities we have set up in our estate planning?" Wendi gave us the option of having Temkin Law set up the changes that were necessary to fund the trust we created, or we could do it ourselves with her guidance. We chose to have her make most of the changes for us. She has followed up on several occasions to see that all the transactions had been successfully done. She also sent a letter advising what happens next and to remind us how to add new assets to our trust. Having gone through this process I feel confident that I am not leaving my family with a mess to sort out. I have the comfort in knowing that my future is planned to the best of our knowledge at this time in our lives and that we will review our estate plan with Wendi every three years to make any necessary changes.
