Great lawyer and very dedicated.

Scott was able to take my case from out of state last minute. I live in Texas and the case was in Colorado. He saved the day by performing a hail mary and printing a Texas order at the very last minute to that I could serve my wife the Texas orders. He went and printed it off last minute with no ques...tion. His use of words and knowledge of the law allowed us to get the Colorado case vacated. He was very communicative and took calls I know he didn't have to take. Truly cares for his work and his clients. Allowed me to suggest certain exhibits that he didn't think was necessary to be published in court to make me comfortable. Truly a hard working lawyer.

He's ok if you don't need skill, strategy, or quick thinking

I want to save others from going through what I went through. I see many 5 star reviews for Scott Hamerslough, which is why I used him… However, I don’t think the cases that those reviewers had were truly “tough” cases. I believe that Scott is a good, unremarkable family law attorney that goes throug...h the motions and is usually granted most things simply because the cases don’t demand skill, strategy, or quick thinking… He does seem to care but, caring won’t win tough cases… At the time of my filing for divorce, I was the father of a 2 ½ year old girl. My daughter was stolen from me, taken out of state, by my now ex-wife. My wife toed the legal line of abduction, good for her... I saw an attorney immediately, not Scott. I only wanted my child back. A Motion was filed to return her to Colorado. I filed for divorce at the same time. My first attorney was unbundled. I fired them. The next attorney, not unbundled, sounded like he would focus on the one thing that I cared about – getting my daughter back, he didn’t. My third attorney was Scott, also an attorney of record, not unbundled. A couple of notes: 1. At the time I hired scott, it had been 5 months of not having seen my child, the court did not grant the motion to return my daughter to Colorado. 2. The divorce was fully underway and there was a lot of animosity. I was angry at my wife for taking my child and I was angry at the court for not returning my daughter to Colorado. 3. There was a PRE involved, that’s a whole other story of bias and injustice… The PRE report wasn’t good for me. The PRE sided with my lying wife on most everything. The PRE didn’t even verify any of the lies that were told about me by my wife. 4. Mediation did not go well at all. There was zero progress made. A complete waste of money. The court should not force all cases to go to mediation but, that’s another story… 5. We went to court in October 2020. I’m saying all of that because those are basic things that Scott should have easily been able to come up with simple convincing arguments that would favor me. He did not do that. There’s obviously way more than just those few things. There were things that I was aware of that he wasn’t and I had pages and pages of facts and notes that I tried to get him to use to develop the case strategy and have for when opposing said things that could be countered by the many things I had for him. He did not use any of it. His style is that of bullying and aggressiveness that, shockingly, is quite ineffective… I saw that in mediation, which was a red flag for me. It was the reason I tried so hard to provide him as many of the facts and arguments as possible, things that would be effective. The things I provided him were so clear cut that any reasonable person, even our court system, would take into account. Scott did not do any of that. He prepared HIS case, not MY case… I had 3 great witnesses that Scott didn’t prepare, no surprise there since he wasn’t prepared himself. Scott mismanaged his time in court and used up all the time. So, none of my witnesses had a chance to appear! In the end, the only thing I was granted was visits with my daughter every 2 weeks to Michigan, I still live in Colorado, and, I was granted shared decision making… my daughter was allowed to stay in Michigan, even though my now ex-wife still works for the City of Boulder. Oh, and I have to pay my ex-wife $16,000 for marital equity, even though she was the bread winner and had many more assets than me. Like I said at the start, there’s a lot more than what I’ve written here and if you want any advice from a father that’s been through our legal system with incompetent lawyers, please feel free to contact me.

The best divorce attorney!

I hired Mr. Hamerslough for a very contentious divorce based on the recommendations of another attorney and I could not be more impressed with Mr. Hamerslough's intelligence, compassion, and ability. The case eventually went to a Judge, and Mr. Hamerslough is outstanding in a trial environment, and... he clearly dominated the opposing counsel. Mr. Hamerslough was very fair in his fees, and was an absolute bargain compared to the fees charged by the opposing counsel. Look no further for a family law attorney, Mr. Hamerslough is the best!

Big Disapointment

I hired Scott from a refering client. that was happy with his service. I was shocked by the lack of dedicaion and communication that Scott had on my divorce case. I found his methods of court proceeding and examination not on that I prefer. I felt his lack of detail to situtations not best intere...st. He never prepped me for court and felt unprepared when I was crossed examined. I did not know what to say. He was constantly filing motions to the extent that I was missing so much work and my children were so upset when they found out from their mother what happened in court, was not really what happened. I felt like the only thing I was getting was a bill that kept running up and zero results happened, on things he had promised.
