I am a seasoned litigator with extensive background in complex commercial litigation. I represent a wide range of domestic and foreign clients—including Fortune 500 companies, closely held businesses, and private individuals—in federal and state courts and arbitrations across the country and internationally. I assist clients in navigating and resolving a broad array of business disputes, both through litigation and through creative non-litigation approaches.

I frequently represent members of LLCs and closely-held corporations in navigating business “divorces,” including negotiating favorable non-litigated buyouts as well as representing clients in resolution through litigation/arbitration.  

STATE COURT SUCCESSES

Defended an international civil engineering firm in a $84 million, 100-day jury trial that resulted in a complete defense verdict (Missouri Superior Court).

Obtained dismissal of securities fraud and civil theft claims made against French national (Denver County District Court).

Successfully defended Colorado-based ski wear label in contract dispute with former sales representatives (Denver County District Court).

FEDERAL COURT SUCCESSES

Represented franchisee in dispute with franchisor and obtained stay of federal lawsuit in order to enforce arbitration clause (U.S. District Court).

Represented the FDIC as Receiver in multiple bankruptcy proceedings, leading to successful recovery of substantial carry-back-loss tax refunds from bank holding companies (U.S. Bankruptcy Court).

Represented a Hong Kong manufacturer in a federal jury trial involving a dispute with a US-based buyer (U.S. District Court). 

Obtained complete victory for a London manufacturer suing US buyer over open account (U.S. District Court). 

Obtained very favorable settled resolution for an international insurer in a consumer class action involving a nationwide class of insureds (Georgia Superior Court).

ARBITRATIONS

Represented ousted LLC member in arbitration against his former LLC partner, and obtained award of more than double the buyout amount offered by former partner and award of six figures in attorney’s fees (JAMS)

Represented the Republic of Turkey in obtaining a favorable ruling in an ICC arbitration related to the Marmaray Project (€2.9 billion infrastructure project involving Istanbul's light-rail transit system) (ICC) 

Represented an Egyptian construction company in a multimillion-dollar arbitration concerning the construction and operation of a port in Egypt (ICC)

Represented a leading REIT in arbitration against heirs of the Howard Hughes estate over earn-out agreement involving a Las Vegas master-planned community, leading to complete win for the REIT (AAA).
