Christopher Tobin Erickson

Christopher “Toby” Erickson devotes his practice exclusively to family law and is experienced in all aspects of divorce, child custody litigation, and domestic violence matters. He understands the significant personal, emotional, and legal issues his clients face, and strives to empower his clients with the knowledge, confidence, and strength necessary for his clients to make informed decisions about the future.

Toby is skilled at trial practice and at home in the courtroom. However, Toby understands that pursuing settlement is generally preferred due to the uncertainty and stress family law litigation causes. He embraces the law and utilizes creative problem-solving skills to negotiate settlements where feasible while strategically positioning his cases for trial in the event settlement cannot be achieved.

Prior to joining Wells Family Law, Toby was a Partner at one of the largest and most prestigious matrimonial law firms in the San Francisco Bay area. He is certified as a Family Law Specialist by the California Board of Legal Specialization. He was selected for inclusion as a Super Lawyer (2023-2024) and, previously, named as a Super Lawyer Rising Star (2018-2021). Toby has been qualified to serve as a Judge Pro Tempore and has served as court-appointed Settlement Referee assisting the family law trial department with pretrial settlement conferences. He has served as a court-appointed attorney for children in high conflict divorce and domestic violence matters.

When not advocating for his clients, Toby enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the Denver culinary scene, and taking advantage of the outdoor activities Colorado offers.
