Perfect for my situation

My wife filed for divorce and hired a lawyer. We had originally discussed not getting lawyers involved and splitting everything 50/50. But I suspect her divorced friends talked her into hiring a lawyer. I felt trapped and ganged up on so guess what? I had no choice but to hire my own lawyer. Luckily... I followed up on an email from Pete Simon that I had received from some "find a lawyer" website I had googled, even though I was already in a mental state of defeat. I called him and he answered, not an answering service or voice mail. I was impressed that he seemed like a normal guy, not all strictly business. Just speaking with him helped ease my anxiety. He was sympathetic to my situation and more concerned with my well being than his hourly rate. He immediately got me up to speed on some legal documents that I didn't understand and didn't want to even deal with. I was in a state of denial. Yet I knew I was behind the eight ball on some of these legal deadlines. I had never had to hire a lawyer in my life and I am 50. He's a lot younger than me and just getting started, a plus because his rate was much better than some other lawyers I had talked with. My gut feeling was that he would be the right guy for me which turned out to be true. I feel I got a bargain having him represent me. Even though he doesn't have the years under his belt that other lawyers have (like the nasty, mean lawyer my ex wife hired) he's very smart, always prepared, calm and professional. Getting divorced is (second to only one other life event for me) the worst thing I ever had to suffer through. And my divorce was not even as complicated as most. Pete went above and beyond with the moral and legal support he provided to me. In the end I feel that my divorce was settled out fairly at worst and in my favor at best. All I ever wanted was a fair settlement between my ex wife and I. In hind site, if I had gone unrepresented I feel I really would have been trampled upon. Not necessarily that my ex wife wanted to do that to me, but more due to her vulnerability and the greedy and nasty nature of the lawyer she happened to hire. I may have gotten representation from a veteran lawyer that was just as good, but it would have cost me twice as much as Pete's reasonable (as lawyers fees go) rates. And I most likely would not have gotten the degree of moral support that Pete continually offered up. In short: I was backed into a corner, talked with Pete and had a good gut feeling about him, hired him and breathed a huge sigh of relief as he went to work for me. He did a fantastic job representing me and I highly recommend hiring him.

"Pete was a pleasure to work with. Each of our clients was eager to reach an agreement (despite their differences). I doubt a resolution would have been reached so quickly were Pete not so responsive and reasonable."
