Biography
Sean Leventhal has years of experience in various types of personal injury matters, including medical malpractice, birth injuries, civil rights, auto accidents, ski accidents, premises liability, and wrongful death. Sean has litigated catastrophic injury cases in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, and Nebraska. Sean has helped obtain multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts for his clients.
Prior to founding Leventhal Sar LLC, Sean spent several years working as an attorney at one of the most prestigious medical-malpractice law firms in the United States. While at that firm, together with one of the partners, Sean obtained a jury verdict of over $17.8 million – the largest medical-malpractice verdict in Colorado history. The case involved a seven-year-old girl who sustained a catastrophic brain injury just days after her birth as a result of the negligence of a hospital.
Sean graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and was admitted into the Order of St. Ives, an honorary distinction for graduating in the top 10% of his law school class. During law school, Sean was on the Articles Review Board for the Transportation Law Journal, and served indigent clients in the Criminal Law Clinic.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Sean was a commercial airline captain at a commuter airline. Sean also started and managed a program within the airline’s Safety Department that encouraged voluntary reporting of safety issues and events. As part of the program, Sean worked with airline management, the union, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in order to prevent safety issues and events in the future. Sean is an FAA Certified Flight Instructor and currently teaches flying at Aspen Flying Club at Centennial Airport.
Sean has lived in Colorado his entire life. He enjoys skiing, hiking, and spending time with his wife and one-year-old daughter.
Sean is a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association of Justice, the Lawyer Pilots Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
Sean is admitted to practice law in all Colorado state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
