Eric Goltz is an exceptional attorney!! Good luck finding better.
I was surprised by the lack of feedback this veteran Public Defender has received. This is simply a function of his being assigned, not chosen by virtue of reviews. Because, this attorney is an absolute rockstar.
Eric Goltz is a man that absolutely changed the course of my life and enabled me to r...ightfully preserve my parenting rights with my daughter. She is now starting Kindergarten a year early and already reading. She shines because she still has two parents, something that would have been unlikely had I not had the privilege of working with Eric Goltz.
He is incredibly intelligent, of rigid moral character, and has an exceptional knowledge of the law. This is based on watching him in action, seeing the results of the technical side-bar discussions, the judges "check the books" and agree with him.
Since working with Eric, I have had the opportunity to interview, consult and work with many family law attorneys. Young and old, from expensive to very expensive. None hold a candle to Mr. Goltz. Eric found the truth and then he fought for that truth to receive justice without once wavering. He reviewed the evidence and picked up many key defenses that I missed myself, and I had lived it! He watched the videos, read the reports, listened to me, and just naturally "gets it."
I read in the news how police officers are recognized for going out of their way to buy formula for a child, while working. I think that is fantastic, but it is so miniscule in comparison to the service provided by the Denver Public Defenders Office. Many will never know the feeling of facing inappropriate criminal charges, count your blessings. It was something I had never expected myself. Once you are under the microscope, you realize the intricacies of the laws are simply impossible to properly navigate as a non-attorney. The right education, the right skills, finding the truth and representing it, the PDs made short work of matters with potentially serious consequences. Eric Goltz was the front man, but behind him was a team of incredible people who were there to support our success.
Eric Goltz was never my "friend" before, during, or after the cases he represented me on. There were no favors done either way. And honestly, I don't think he liked me personally, then again, I wasn't at my finest, and it's just best not to cross the lines. Throughout a year of frequent meetings, he was always ready, and never dropped the ball. Point being, I am not here to promote a buddy or get anything more than I have already received. I am here because Eric Goltz and the Public Defenders deserve so much more recognition than I see them receive.
If you have been assigned Eric Goltz as a public defender, you too are very fortunate. Be honest with him and do any and everything he tells you to do. Hiring a better attorney would be very expensive.
He is a great treasure to the City of Denver for caring enough to do his job so well. Few things make a person feel more violated than when a system as powerful as the government, gets it wrong. So, maybe charges were filed because there are other calls to respond to, and something needs to happen, and there isn’t time to sort it out. But, once an officer files charges, it is very easy for the gears of the ‘system’ to destroy a person’s life by adding more and more hoops to jump through. Even more so when spurred by a malicious ex seeking favor in family court. Being the defendant is like being screamed at in a foreign language and wrong responses will have devastating consequences. Public Defenders bridge the “language” (education) barriers and perform a vital role in upholding the rule of law, they are the quality control checks that ensure the scales of justice have a chance to balance. This great system, and way of life as we know it, would soon fail if it did not have people like Eric Goltz and the Denver Public Defenders Office.
