Steven L Murray

Steven Murray is an experienced attorney in employment law, civil rights, and trial practice. Steven’s legal experience has been virtually exclusively devoted to practicing private and public sector employment and civil rights law, representing clients in jury trials, litigation, and appeals before federal and state, trial and appellate courts, and in federal, state, and local government agency proceedings. This experience includes representing employees, supervisors, managers, executives, professionals, applicants, former employees, professional entities, and employers.

Steven Murray, as lead trial counsel, has successfully represented clients in all phases of employment and civil rights cases. In civil rights actions, Steven represented prevailing individuals in multiple and consecutive jury trials before the United States Court for the District of Colorado-achieving verdicts in favor of employees, applicants, and former employees, against private sector employers, the United States Government, and the City and County of Denver. He has represented prevailing public sector employees before the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and government agencies, including the United States Merit Systems Protection Board, the United States Foreign Service Grievance Board, and the Career Service Board for the City and County of Denver.

Prior to opening this practice, Steven Murray served as a Senior Trial Attorney with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Steven represented the EEOC in civil rights cases before United States District Courts in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Arizona.

Prior to serving with the EEOC, Steven Murray practiced as an employment and civil rights attorney. Steven worked as a private practitioner, law firm partner, and lawyer for a public sector labor organization attorney in Denver, and served as a law firm attorney and labor organization lawyer in Washington, D.C.

Steven Murray received a Masters of Laws degree in Employment and Labor Law from the Georgetown University Law Center. Steven received a Juris Doctor degree from the Saint Louis University School of Law, where he served on the Saint Louis University Law Journal. He has written published articles addressing public and private sector employment and labor law, political patronage and First Amendment issues in public sector employment, and constitutional law--the articles appearing in the DePaul Law Review [Lead Article], Saint Louis University Law Journal, and Government Executive Magazine [co-author]

Steven Murray is admitted to practice law in Colorado, the District of Columbia, and Illinois [inactive]. Steven is admitted to practice before United States District Courts for the District of Colorado, and the District of Columbia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth, Federal, Third, and Fourth Circuits. He is a member of the Denver Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association.
