Amazing lawyer!

I worked for a company and the owner turned out to be a very big crook. Samantha fought for me and won a default judgement for approximately $139k. She was relentless and my voice and ultimately serves up a good slice of justice to someone that needed it! THANKS Samantha! You are AMAZING!

Excellent Employment Law Attorney

Samantha assisted me in an employment law issue related to a wrongful discharge. She was extremely helpful in assessing my rights and in negotiating a fair settlement. She was also mindful of the cost to represent me and what I could do in order to keep fees reasonable. I appreciated her help very... much in resolving this in a timely manner.

Challenging working relationship

We hired Samantha Pryor as she came highly recommended and when we checked reviews, hers were favourable.   Sometimes you hire an aggressive attorney because you want them to be aggressive on your behalf.  In our case, we did not expect nor desire to have that experience ourselves.  Our organization ...has no reason to believe that Ms. Pryor is not a capable attorney.   From a working relationship standpoint, we changed counsel for two primary reasons as outlined below. 1. We found Ms. Pryor to be inflexible and unresponsive regarding billing issues.  To provide an example, our accountant advised that her billing did not meet requirements to issue payment.  I wrote to her on 9/2 and offered to bear the expense of having the accountant develop compliant documentation for payment if she could provide a request for payment along with the accounting support.  On 9/7 she responded with an email that basically said - you have a retainer agreement, you need to replenish the retainer before we do any more work.  I responded on 9/12 reiterating our offer to bear the expense ourselves to create compliant documentation for the accountant to issue payment.  Her response the following day was that this was "problematic" and she has never had such a request.  If we didn't pay her in 4 days, she would withdraw. I don't know about you, we pride ourselves on compliance and if our accountant needs documentation to support an invoice, we view that as a reasonable request (perhaps better described as a requirement).  I have never had anyone who is requesting payment to refuse to comply ESPECIALLY when we offered to bear the accountant's expense associated with creating the required documentation.  Unfortunately, we couldn't do it ourselves, we needed the support which was withheld.  We would expect anyone we do business with to work with us to find a mutually agreeable solution to any challenges we may encounter, especially regarding payment, and to do so graciously (and in an effort to accommodate an accountant's needs).  We were disappointed to find that not to be the case. 2. One of the reasons we hired Ms. Pryor was that we expected to get the quality of representation we would have from a large firm at a lower cost since Ms Pryor should not have the overhead of a large firm.  We found that Ms. Pryor was actually more expensive than large firms we worked with.  As one small illustration, she charged us $544 to request additional response time and to file a substitution of counsel.  We had the same service provided by one of the large law firms in downtown Denver, with an attorney whose hourly rate was higher than Ms. Pryor's, for less than half the cost.

It is unfortunate that you decided to prepare this defamatory review, as it is simply not true. At the outset, your company was not a client of the Firm, and your company never agreed to pay the Firm’s fees. Rather, you informed me that you, personally, would pay the legal fees your company’s independent contractor (the “Client”) in a complex commercial litigation matter. After vetting other law firms and speaking with me at length regarding the Firm’s fees and proposed strategies for the case, you selected the Firm to represent the Client. You, not your company, entered into a retainer fee agreement with the Firm. You expressly agreed to pay a specific and pre-disclosed hourly rate and an initial retainer fee, which was placed into the Firm’s trust account to satisfy the Firm’s invoices. You agreed that the Firm would issue monthly invoices and transfer money from the retainer to satisfy the invoices. You agreed to replenish the retainer once the balance reached a certain amount, which would ensure funds were available to pay for the Firm’s services. Importantly, the Client and I had a very enjoyable working relationship. I represented her in an effective, professional, and top-quality manner, and I also provided valuable input to the legal team. Your company did not decide to “change counsel”. Instead, the Firm was forced to withdraw from the matter after you refused to replenish the retainer and satisfy the Firm’s outstanding invoices. I was never aggressive, inflexible, or unresponsive as you claim. I was always professional and promptly responded to your concerns. I had done exactly what you asked for on 9/2. Indeed, I issued invoices in May, June and July, and each invoice identified fees and costs owed to the Firm and a detailed transaction history of your trust account. I emailed the invoices each month with a summary of the amount owed, indicating that I would transfer money from the trust account to satisfy the invoice. I also included the balance of your trust account in each email. In July, I requested that you replenish the retainer pursuant to the fee agreement. You refused to replenish the retainer and claimed there were issues with the Firm’s invoices. Contrary to your review, I did not threaten to withdraw if you did not pay within four days. Rather, I continued to email with you for three months, attempting to understand and address your concerns as we performed services. I offered a telephone call to address any concerns you had, instead of exchanging emails. Surprisingly, you refused to speak with me. Eventually, you claimed it was your accountant who had concerns, and that he required an invoice to send another retainer fee. Again, I offered to speak directly with your accountant, and you angrily refused. I never rejected your offer to create your own invoice for your accountant’s needs. Moreover, you sent the initial retainer, which was large, without an invoice. After three months of emailing with you, the Firm was forced to withdraw from the matter because the initial retainer fee was fully exhausted, and you refused to pay the outstanding balance owed to the Firm. When I attempted to collect the outstanding balance from you, you claimed you were selling your company and that the “new owners” would address the invoice. When I indicated you were responsible and not the company, you stopped responding to my emails. The “new owner” then claimed that the Firm’s invoice was not part of the sale. She then demanded a 50% reduction on the invoice. When I refused to reduce the invoice, the “new owner” threatened to submit this baseless review. Finally, I cannot attest to what steps other lawyers take to confer and file motions or what fees they charge. However, you were fully aware of the Firm’s rates when you decided to retain the Firm. We performed only the necessary tasks to protect the client's interest. We sincerely enjoyed working with the Client, and it is unfortunate that it ended this way.
