I have practiced family law in Colorado and Kansas since 1977. My specialties include dissolution of marriage (divorce), collaborative law, mediation, modification of child support, parenting time and parental responsibilities, and issues regarding paternity. In addition to working to ensure fair settlements in these cases, I also believe part of my role as an attorney is to educate my clients about the impact the law will have on their specific issues. I strive to help them understand the legal implications associated with their choices, and provide them with the information they need to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. As part of my role as an educator, as well as a senior attorney for the Firm, I offer a monthly seminar at the Firm to provide an overview of the divorce process in Colorado.
I obtained my Juris Doctorate from the University of Wyoming College of Law, where I studied areas that include: family law, basic estate planning, landlord tenant law, and criminal law. After graduation, I became the Director of Student Legal Services at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. While teaching students about their legal rights, I also designed a course called “Families in the Legal Environment,” and taught that class for seven years. Following my tenure at CSU, I became a Clinical Professor at the University of Denver Sturm, College of Law in 1988, and instructed students how to practice law helping real clients with real cases. I currently serve on the Executive Council of the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
Aside from my years of experience as an attorney and an educator, I also have a background in social work which is helpful especially in collaborative cases and mediation. When there are children involved, I do my best to preserve the idea that divorced parents can still interact as a family unit in order to raise children. I firmly believe it is important for parents to understand the necessity of establishing civil means of communication so they can continue to work together for the benefit of their children, even if they are not married.
As a part of my practice, I try to do much more than solve legal problems, and strive to respectfully help the client move forward into the next phase of his or her life.
Outside of the practice of law, I have been a step-parent to my husband's 3 children for over 25 years, and I enjoy spending time with them and my grandchildren. I also enjoy gardening, camping, hiking and volunteering.

Wonderful Advocate!
Let's face it there is no such thing as a good divorce. Peggy was level headed, patient, and calm as I faced what turned out to be a bitter legal battle. She was quick to take action when it was needed and the perfect advocate. I am grateful that I had her by my side during this difficult time.

Margaret Walker helped me with my divorce five years ago. Her knowledge and compassion are a great and rare combination. Yesterday something came up and I didn't know where to turn and called Margaret. She was prompt in getting back to me, remembered me after five years and really listened to me a...

More than Lawyer
I could not be happier than I am with the support I have received from Margaret (and Beth, her paralegal.) Both have been attentive and thorough. My goal has been to go through this divorce process in a way that I felt whole - both financially and emotionally - and so far that is exactly what I h...
"I enthusiastically endorse this lawyer. Peggy is incredibly even-keeled and wise. I have found Peggy to be a strong advocate for her clients' positions, but she listens and considers additional information and different perspectives. I have confidence that Peggy advises her clients to take realistic positions and that she works to find common ground, especially when years of co-parenting are going to follow a divorce."
"I endorse this lawyer. Peggy Walker is a brilliant lawyer who takes amazing care of her clients. Peggy is very experienced and I would highly recommend her. I would not hesitate to hire her for my family or friends."
"I endorse Peggy Walker. I have worked with her on cases and she is a wonderful advocate while also keeping conflict low for the parties. She is also a great collaborative lawyer."
