Estate planning and Trusts

Mr. Krueger did an incredible job for me and my husband with our estate planning and helping create a trust for our children. He was extremely thorough and made sure that we understood he was NO LONGER practicing law or acting as our attorney but merely helping us plan for our estate. Mr. Krueger wor...ked in a very timely manner, meeting deadlines and going above and beyond our expectations. He explained everything in detail and we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and comfortable experience. He made both me and my husband feel at ease. Our family attorney reviewed the entire project on completion and was extremely satisfied with the high quality of work done by Mr. Krueger. My husband and I would recommend him without hesitation.

My case could have been handled better

Although I admire this attorney's family first attitude, I felt that he was too easily distracted from his job due to non emergency personal matters. Mr. Krueger expressed that stress that from opposing counsel overwhelmed him. Mr. Krueger charged for additional fees not previously agreed upon becaus...e he spent more time on the case than he estimated. I believe that complexities, time consuming issues and stress could have been avoided if I was accurately informed of my legal standing at the beginning of my cases. Mr. Krueger tried to get me to sign an agreement making me ultimately responsible for subcontracting fees he verbally swore he would be responsible for.

Again, I wish the client posting this comment would include details to let me know exactly who this is (even just signing the comment with initials would be helpful), because with over 1,500 clients it is often difficult to figure out who actually made the post/comments. That being said, I believe from the comments in the post that this involved an estate litigation case that was brought to me less than a week before the statute of limitations was set to run and the case had to be filed/pursued in California (as this Texas client's parent had passed away in California). Multiple attorneys in California had refused to take this case and advised the client that pursuing an "undue influence" claim would be useless. The original engagement letter was clear that California co-counsel would be necessary to file/pursue this matter - which the client agreed to prior to the filing of the initial lawsuit petition (which was filed the day before the California statue of limitations deadline would have banned any challenge or asset recovery). I personally paid $43,642 of California co-counsel legal fees/expenses during the 18 months this case was pursued in the California courts. We were ultimately successful in obtaining a $815,000 payment from the estate for this client on the undue influence claim/lawsuit. After completion of the case, the client did not like the fact that the fee arrangement required the reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses paid to third-parties from the $815,000 settlement (including the $43,642 of legal fees paid to California attorneys from 2013-2015 to "fight the battle" in California). The client is correct that after the filing of the initial lawsuit in late 2013 until the settlement of the case in the middle of 2015 I did have several significant health and family issues. I apologized at that time, and continue to apologize now, for any stress those personal issues may have caused this client. - David Krueger

Estate Planning

My family used Mr. Krueger for estate planning and the creation of several LLC's. He simply failed to finish the job and did not return phone calls or emails. We ended up having to hire another attorney to finish what he started.

It is disappointing that people can anonymously post negative comments. I have over 1,500 clients and I have no idea who this client is - but if this client would contact me at my email address ([email protected]) I would appreciate the opportunity to visit with this client to personally apologize and to do whatever I can at this point to make things right. - David Krueger
