My dog was crushed by a dryer at my apartment complex after being installed improperly. Seems like an open and shut case, right? My husband and I go to his office and listen to him tell us all the things he's going to do for us and how clear of a case this is and how much he sympathizes with us and B...LAH BLAH BLAH!!!!!!!! We fell for it hook, line, and sinker. We gave him the $1500 retainer. He then showed us the demand letter for $25000 he sent our apartments. And the waiting began. Months later with no response and no results, I finally checked in. I am convinced that he truly forgot that our case exists. Suddenly he starts communicating and actually doing a bit of work. Then after another few months he tells us, "we just contacted the adjustor about the $25,000, I expect to hear back ASAP and I will contact you on Monday." Monday rolls around, so do 3 more days before I finally called. He then proceeds to tell me that, basically, we are getting little to nothing. It went from $25000 to $?? overnight. I lit up. I was furious. I wanted to see all documentation of his work. I wanted to see why this went so wrong with so little warning. That's when I found out that the adjustor had been turning down our offer from the beginning. Our case never had any hope. He LIED every step of the way. There were MONTHS of absent contact where even the adjustor was asking him where he went. His lack of work is the reason my dog will NEVER get treatment. So now, everyday, I have to wake up in time to let my dog out to throw up and lose his sense of motion. He has seizures regularly. He can't run. He can't hold his bowels. He is NOT the same little puppy I had before. I never wanted this. And this was forced upon me. But because of Jay Swearingen's inaction, I had to take the only amount he could get us after 9 months. I later found out that during his months of zero contact, he was moving into a smaller office. His physical presentation is shameful- messed suits, unbathed, just plain uncaring in general of how he looks to his customers. His office is a huge step down from where he was earlier this year and I can only assume it is because of his "success" with his clientele. CHOOSE ANY OTHER LAW FIRM/ LAWYER. This man will promise you the moon and deliver a stone even though you paid for the former. It is the most infuriating and desperation-inducing process and I would never do it again. Because of the time wasted by this man and his office, I will never get the justice Gunner and I deserve.
