Robinson & Henry Associate Attorney Steven Lambert is a member of the firm’s Family Law Team. Steven’s passion for understanding the country’s governmental, bureaucratic, and judicial institutions inspired him to attend law school.

Steven has practiced various areas of law, including civil litigation, criminal law, government relations, corporate, and commercial law. Early on, though, he found himself gravitating towards the area of family law.

“It felt to me to be the most grounded in real life. In the practice of law, there is nothing more human than helping real people work through dissolution and custody matters,” Steven said.

In his legal practice, Steven has witnessed the spectrum of family law cases: high-asset, low-asset, high-conflict, very amicable, and everywhere in between. He uses this varied experience as he approaches each new case, no matter where his client is in the process or how the parties are relating to one another.

Steven takes a two-pronged approach to his client’s case. Professionally, he strives to be the most informed person about the facts of the case (apart from the parties themselves), as well as the most knowledgeable attorney regarding the laws pertaining to it.

Sometimes, cases involve nuanced areas of the law that are either completely new to the court or rarely litigated. When that occurs, Steven does not shy away from educating the court about the unique facts of the case.

Steven immerses himself with a case’s relevant facts and laws so when he steps into the courtroom or a settlement conference, he is prepared to obtain the best possible outcome for his clients and their families.

On a personal level, Steven tries to make himself as available as possible for his clients. He understands his clients are experiencing some of the most stressful times in their lives, so he ensures all their case information is available at his fingertips.

“Sometimes all it takes to ease a client’s nerves is a quick Zoom meeting or response email to reassure them of their case or explain a legal aspect of the law with which the client is not familiar. I strive to have each of my clients say that they feel better after speaking to me,” Steven said.

A Colorado native, Steven grew up in Leadville. He still visits from time to time to catch up with old friends and explore little-known facets of his hometown. During his free time, Steven enjoys spending time with his wife, Sydney, and their one-year-old son, Beckett. Steven plays the guitar and ukulele.

Steven’s Most Influential Case in His Own Words:

“There was a case out of Weld County that touched on the intersection of criminal and civil law. In this case, which ultimately gained global notoriety, I was able to assist my clients’ case by presenting various aspects of their legal and personal struggles to local and national news media, including an appearance on The Doctor Phil Show and various documentaries. Having such a small slice of life blown up to that scale demonstrated for me how special and sacred each individual life and case can be for those involved.”
