Maria Nickolasa Ortiz

Maria is passionate about increasing the accessibility of estate planning services and enjoys meeting with clients to determine appropriate estate planning strategies tailored to fit the clients’ needs. While Maria’s practice primarily focuses on estate planning and probate matters, Maria has experience representing clients and small businesses in landlord/tenant disputes, contractor disputes, business formation, and consumer protection matters.

Maria earned her B.A. in Political Science from Concordia University Texas. Maria then received her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law, where she participated in the dual-degree program that allowed her to simultaneously earn a master’s degree in Personal Financial Planning. While at Tech, Maria served as an Articles Editor for the Texas Tech Law Review.

In addition to providing quality legal services to her clients, Maria enjoys making a difference in the Lubbock community. Maria is on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Hub City Outreach Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services to promote the social, behavioral, and mental health and wellness for Lubbock youth. Additionally, Maria volunteers as a mentor at the Lubbock YWCA.

When she’s not at the office, Maria enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching movies, and being outdoors.
