Leah M. Davis moved to the Texas Panhandle in the summer of 2016 after marrying a local farmer. Having grown up on a farm in Southwest Kansas, moving to the Panhandle felt a lot like moving home – friendly people, wide open spaces, and magnificent sunsets.
Her practice focuses on elder law, which includes estate planning, probate, Medicaid planning, and special needs trusts. She chose this practice area because she walked through the estate planning process with friends and family, which included establishing a special needs trust for her own brother. She understands the long-term emotional and financial concerns of families who are wrestling with how best to care for their most vulnerable members.
Prior to working with BMWB, Leah was the Director of Justice Initiatives at ALARM (African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries) in Dallas, Texas, where she equipped African attorneys and others to fight the human rights abuses in their communities for almost five years. Before that, she spent one year fighting sex trafficking in South Asia with International Justice Mission and five years practicing law at Thompson & Knight, LLP, in Dallas, Texas. Through these experiences, Leah honed her communication and critical thinking skills, as well as learned to operate in a high-intensity, professional environment – skills that she now brings to bear on her clients’ behalf.
Leah received her law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law in Virginia, where she was a member of the Law Review. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Azusa Pacific University in California. She is licensed to practice law in Texas and Kansas.
