OUTCOME: Verdict for Plaintiff of $886,000

The defendant, a dump truck driver, ran a stop sign and blocked the roadway causing an oncoming semi truck driver to slam on his brakes to avoid a deadly crash. Semi truck driver's seat belt broke dur ... ing the impact. He was thrown around the cab of his semi like a pinball and suffered severe and permanent injuries. The defendant told witnesses he was sorry and that it was his fault, but later claimed it was not. After a nearly three week jury trial, the jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff and awarded a total of about $886,000.
