This created an immediate conflict under Texas Disciplinary Rule 1.18. ​Because of this ethical breach, the attorney was ultimately required to file a Motion to Withdraw from the case. This situation caused significant unnecessary anxiety and legal complications that could have been avoided with a proper conflict check.
