Practice area

Julie Sparks is a board-certified specialist in immigration and nationality law.  After more than a decade of practice exclusively in the field of immigration law, she has represented immigrants from more than 70 different countries.  She has helped hundreds of individuals and families achieve legal status in the U.S. in cases involving marriage, citizenship, domestic violence, torture, and charges of deportation/removal in immigration court.

A passion for aiding individuals from around the world led Julie to give up a teaching career and pursue a law degree.  The seed of this passion was planted when Julie met a Rwandan refugee in the ’90s through her work in a homeless shelter in Waco, Texas.  Her love for this area of law remains to this day.  Clients and potential clients often tell her that she is the first person to show true concern for their case and the first to help them thoroughly understand the complexities of the legal issues they face.

Julie is a former instructor in immigration law at the Pepperdine School of Law in Malibu, California as well as California State University – Los Angeles.  During her years in California, she also founded and managed a non-profit organization through which she supervised numerous law students in their representation of indigent immigrants seeking asylum and other relief.  Julie has served as a volunteer attorney for many community organizations at dozens of community events.  Prior to the creation of the DACA program, she served as a legal advisor to “Dreamers” in their struggle to pressure the Obama administration to provide relief to undocumented students.  As a volunteer Legal Coordinator for the 2003 Immigrant Workers' Freedom Ride, Julie assisted immigrants in joining together in a nationwide protest and call for meaningful immigration reform to protect the rights of undocumented workers in this country.

Julie earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Baylor University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree from the University of Houston Law Center.  There she was a recipient of the University of Houston Law Center's Public Interest Fellowship. She has served as a pro bono attorney for numerous organizations over the years, including The National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children, an agency funded in part by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.  She was the recipient of the 2010 Beacon of Justice Award from the National Legal Aid and Defender Association.

Ms. Sparks is a member of the Texas Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

Excellent
Hello to everyone who ready this review, My name is Lambert Munyawera. I am usa citizen but my wife came on Fiancé visa, we did all process and file change of status by ourselves but our case get denied, we missed some items in our case. After denying our case, I decided to find Immigration Lawyer, and that time I had no recommendation, I used google to find immigration Lawyer and I was so Lucky and I mean it I was really so Lucky,I found sparks immigration Law Farm, Our case was really complicated but when I met Julie sparks, she told me that everything will be alright. When I am going to thank Sparksimmigration, I can’t really find words ( I became wordless). They treated our case with professional manner, they treated us as family and I will never thank them enough. When they started our case, the lockdown also started , because of Covid19. We did everything online, but all sparks immigration workers ( family), are so great, phone calls, emails, everything was online but they did more than a great job for us. The case was really complicated but they made it easy. But most important thing is the words of encouragement, and hope they use when they are talking to you. The last thing that touched my heart forever is the way Julie sparks drove all the way to San Antonio to help us with interview. And because of her the interview went smoothly, and my wife is a green card holder. I can never thank sparksimmigration Law Farm enough let me stop here by saying that Sparksimmigration, is champion in immigration cases. Finally, I recommend everyone who have immigration case, Please go to Sparksimmigration, and you will thank me Later.

Best Lawyer who deserve their American dreams
Julie Sparks law firm was very helpful, I stared my GC immigration process with them last year and from then everything went smoothly with my filing. They filed the process in a perfect way and finally I could receive my GC last week in just 8 months of my filings. If you are honest & genuine towards your case, You just get it what you deserve with this law firm and believe me they are also very friendly towards their payment systems. Also, they have the best customer service and they are great in handling their customer to the maximum satisfactory levels. Thanks to Julie for taking care of me and I wish I would approach this firm whenever I need for rest of my life. Thanks again to to this law firm and specially Julie for helping me. My rating is 5 out of 5. They are the best. Regards, Satish

Very helpful
Julie was an absolute blessing. My wife and I had been struggling with the onslaught of paperwork in order to adjust her status and decided to go in for a consultation. Julie was very understanding of our level of stress and anxiety about the process and answered all of our questions. Should we run into any future problems dealing with this super ambiguous immigration process, we wouldn't hesitate to go right back to Julie Sparks.

Hiring Julie was the best decision!
My wife and I are very satisfied working with Julie. She was very friendly and spent plenty of time with us from day one to the interview date. Got my Green Card in just 7 months and Julie predicted all the USCIS moves accurately. Will definitely send my friends and other family members to her.

Informed, Patient & Kind Lawyer & Staff
My (now) husband and I came to Julie over a year ago in need of immigration advice to move him from Argentina to the US permanently. She offered a free, no strings attached, in-person highly informational & helpful meeting to discuss our options and the governmental processes they would require. She was patient and answered all of our questions no matter how small/silly. Once we decided to get married, we hired her to help us put through all of the paperwork correctly and assure that we didn't accidentally break the law during any stage of waiting for his change of status (the University of Google is VERY mixed up and often wrong when seeking immigration advice). Her rates are very fair, the forms/paperwork were processed smoothly and we were never left in the dark at any stage. We finally had our final Green Card interview today and we passed with flying colors - thanks to the preparation and confidence we received from Julie and her staff! We couldn't be happier with our choice of working with Julie and Florencia (her Paralegal). We know others who decided to go it alone without a lawyer and, while it's possible to do, we have no regrets in working with Julie and believe the security of knowing everything will go smoothly from start to finish is worth every penny.

Best immigration lawyer
Julie is as a few other lawyers, clear, honest, efficient and straightforward. Our immigration case was very particular and needed to address several "exceptions to the rule". We read and investigated a lot our particular case and became knowledgeable about the topic. Then, we begun to look for a lawyer who will take our case and ask several friends and look for reviews in internet. We consulted at least 7 different lawyers from all over Texas. All of them, except Julie, were evasive with their responses, did not want to be specific, wanted us to commit immediately with them or just did not know what they were saying. When we met with Julie, she was very open, trustworthy and relax. She wanted us to think about it and was confident enough to say she had to do more research about some of the peculiarities of our case. We felt that same day we could trust her and sign up the contract with her. Since then, she was on top of our case, responded calls and emails all the time, overcame difficulties and got our case submitted in an amazing short amount of time!. Literally, in a matter of a few weeks we had a very pristine case sent to USCIS. The case is still under consideration but she keeps being on top of it and is great at communicating with us the status of it.

Helped Like a Family Member
Julie helped get my husband here from the UK after a nightmare of a process. I have a lot of health problems & she was able to help get the immigration process expedited due to the pressure it was putting on my health. She was quick to respond to our questions, always giving us honest personal attention to every worry, stress or fear popped up along the way. My husband & I would recommend her to anyone looking to get family here from another country!

The Best Immigration Attorney in US
I am a successful service member serving in the United States Air Force today all because of Julie. I immigrated to the USA as a minor in 1995 with my mother and brother on a tourist visa. We applied for visa extension and during that time, my uncle applied (petitioned) for adjustment of status (green card) for my mother. Although we applied for adjustment of status, our tourist visa expired. We went to school, had friends and as far as I was concerned I was an American. I did not know the situation/process I was in until after 9/11. A 2002 immigration registration act called "National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS)" sought to identify/track any non-immigrant males within the US born in 1986 or earlier. A list of specifically designated countries were identified and individuals from those countries (in phases) were required to register with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) Even though Bangladesh was identified in "Call-in Group 4", this created confusion because my uncles were unsure if I was to be included since we applied/filed for adjustment of status in 1997. We erred on the side of caution and went to register. My uncles I believe took me down to Los Angels INS office to report. While there the INS agents separated me from my legal guardian (my uncle), spoke to me in private and antagonized me. I do not remember them collecting any kind of information from me besides my fingerprints. I never felt like a second class citizen in all my life. Mind you I was 16 at the time and a minor at the time. They simply let me go and I did not hear anything from them (INS) period. Years go by; I graduated high school and started to attend college. Since I was an undocumented immigrant, I did not qualify for scholarships, grants, financial aid, or loans; on by the way, I couldn't work (legally) nor drive. I am still living in fear of deportation. Finally In the fall of 2007, my mothers adjustment of status petition was finally ready for review, I was given work authorization card, legal authority to get my state Identification and/or drivers license while they (USCIS/DHS) commenced their procedural checks (ie. medical clearance, biometerics, background investigation, etc.). Late 2007/Early 2008 I was solely pulled out of my mothers petition process and placed into deportation proceedings. Due to an error on INS part during the 2003 registration. We hired Julie Sparks Law Corp. to help with out complicated case. We did not hesitate to have Julie Sparks represent us due to the simple fact that she had the most honest and genuine consultation prior to us hiring her. so when Things really got worse when in deportation proceeding hearing, the USCIS did not have and cannot produce my original Alien number file with which had all the pertinent information proving my entry into the US, It was a very stressful and rough time of my life. Since they cannot locate it, the hearings would be set for a continuation. Julie was there every step of the way to make sure they (USCIS) did not scare us off. The USCIS/DHS was finally able to locate my folder/file somewhere in the midwest. After almost 3 long years battling in immigration court, I was finally awarded my "green card" in Feb 9 2010. I was able to graduate college with a Master's degree and join the workforce. I am happily married with 2 kids now, all Thanks to Julie's patience and persistence, I am where I am today and I am extremely proud to be an American Airman.

Extremely Informative
From the moment I walked into her super comfy and not uptight office I knew I would be in good hands. Every question I had she answered me to the best of her knowledge. Also, every email was answered at a reasonable pace. This was the only Attorney who who was thorough with me and upfront about what needed to be done. We will definitely be using her for all our future immigration services. Thanks Julie!

"Without question, Julie is one of the best immigration attorneys you will encounter, period. Of course, she is very knowledgeable about immigration law, but what sets her apart is the fact that she is just incredibly sharp, which is a surprisingly rare quality to find in an attorney. She can analyze a problem quickly, and figure out the best approach to resolving it, and she can explain it in plain language. I'll also add that she is a very skilled writer. Aside from all of that, she is dedicated to her clients. I've witnessed her go above and beyond for them, time and again. Many of her clients have gone on to become close friends. But ultimately what really makes Julie special is that she is a good person, and good people are hard to find. She's personable, a master at her craft, and I can't recommend her enough."
