Jose Barajas was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He graduated from W. Charles Akins High School in 2006. He attended college at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, graduating in 2010. After college, Mr. Barajas entered law school and obtained his Juris Doctor degree in May 2013. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in November 2013.
Mr. Barajas represents families before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection) as well as the Immigration Court (Executive Office for Immigration Review). He handled cases involving marriage based adjustment of status, fiancée visas, naturalization, u-visas, t-visas and waivers of inadmissibility, special immigrant juvenile status, removal defense and both affirmative and defensive asylum cases.
Mr. Barajas has expanded his practice to include family law and criminal law matters in which there is an immigration component, including divorces, suits affecting the parent-child relationship and criminal defense. This broad spectrum of expertise allows Mr. Barajas to holistically represent his clients in legal matters.
Beginning in 2014, Mr. Barajas managed his law practice in Austin, where he worked on family-based immigration, special immigrant juvenile status, removal defense litigation including asylum and other relief. Mr. Barajas also handled associated family law and criminal law matters where there is an immigration component; including divorces, suits affecting the parent-child relationship and criminal defense.
