Biography
I am the President and CEO of my law firm, which I founded in 1976. Our firm represents those injured in accidents, both on the job and otherwise. Throughout the years we have built our reputation by fighting for the rights of individuals that are being denied their benefits or those who need assistance in obtaining a just resolution of their claim. I am the past President of the State Bar of Texas as well as past President of the American Bar Foundation and the Travis County Bar Association. I have been on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association (ABA), led the Texas legal delegation to the ABA, and have been chair of the Texas Bar Foundation. I, and my firm, have the highest rating (AV), by the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory which is reserved for a small percentage of selected attorneys in the U.S.
In March of 1973, I left on the last planes out of Vietnam, at the end of the Vietnam War. I had been drafted after my first year of law school. Soon to be published is a book, which I co-authored with John Hagan, titled, Last Plane Out of Saigon.
