James Jackson

James Jackson, Esq. is an Associate Attorney in Tully Rinckey’s Austin, Texas office, focusing his practice on federal employment law. James was born and raised in East Texas, and he has lived almost his entire life in the Lone Star State. James received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Texas at Tyler, where he graduated summa cum laude as a proud member of the Honors Program and Bill Archer Fellow.

James earned his Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2023. During his time at Texas A&M Law, James took every opportunity to develop himself as an attorney. He interned with two federal judges to sharpen his research and writing, and he competed on the moot court team to better his oral advocacy. James also served as an Articles Editor on the Texas A&M Law Review and earned the Second Place Prize in the Judicial Clerkship Opinion Writing Competition at Columbus School of Law in spring 2023. Moreover, James sought to put these skills to practical use in pursuit of his passion—helping people. Indeed, James worked as a member of the Immigrant Rights Clinic, where he advocated in defense of noncitizens before immigration judges, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

From 2023 to 2025, James served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh in the Northern District of West Virginia. In his free time, James enjoys tinkering with his PC and going to the movies.
