Raymond Espersen is no good

In 1997 I was appointed Raymond Espersen as my attorney. He blatantly took advantage of the fact that it was my first time in jail and did not know a single thing about the law, and also took advantage of the fact that I was highly medicated on psychiatric medication. While in jail I was informed by ...another inmate that I could do a trial by judge, which would have given me a lesser sentence than the plea deal I eventually took. When I told Raymond Espersen that I wanted to do a trial by judge, he lied to me and told me that was not an available option for me. When I told him I heard from another inmate that it was an option, he told me the inmate didn't know what he was talking about and who was I going to believe, an inmate, or my attorney. I believed his lie, and was pushed into taking a plea deal. He was very deceiving in lying to me so. He took advantage of me being highly medicated on psychiatric medication to push me into signing a plea deal. He knew that I was not in my right mind, knew that I was unable to process the information that I was being given and had me sign a plea deal. He further more lied to me, by telling me if I took the plea deal of 35 yrs., That I would come up for parole after serving one third of my sentence. It wasn't until after he persuaded me to sign the plea agreement that, when I got to prison, that I found out that I had to serve half of the sentence to come up for parole. Raymond Espersen is lying, deceiving, and is not interested in truly helping his client. If anyone is appointed Raymond Espersen I would suggest immediately firng him and ask for different representation, and certainly NO ONE should ever pay him to represent you. My name is Nathan Strickland and have not one good thing to say about attorney Raymond Espersen.

Surprise

Ok most of what is being said. Is true. However everyone assumes because he does not call he is not involved. Are you sure he is not putting information on your case together I personally watched him represent a very close friend..no calls..no visits...but my friend was charged with felony possessi...on which was 2 -20. Years. Was not looking. Good..and My. Asked if he could get her probation ..he said yes..but im going to do better. He went up to the DA said were going to court your case has no probable cause..case dismissed 2 minutes later. His bed side manners may need work...do NOT underestimate this man!

Terrible!

My case happened in 2011 and I feel like he did not even fight for me. I never heard from him and there were times when he wouldn't even be at my court dates. Honestly, I wouldn't even have remembered his name until I recently saw it on my court documents. He made it like I didn't have any options ...but to sign for a lesser charge. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I was young and unable to afford a different option.

Mr. Esperson should be disbarred!

REVIEW *****" ZERO STARS*********** In 2008 I was charged with assualt causing bodily harm. He never talked to me about my case, despite all the attempts I made to contact him. I sent a text from my phone the day I was supposed to meet him in court. He came out to meet me and began to cuss me in fro...nt of people. Telling me he was trying to help me get probation when in all reality I had done nothing wrong. Never attempted to locate my witness or to retain the video from the store the incident happened in front of. If you have him as your court appointed...... You are not required to keep him. Speak up!! If he is not handling your case properly you do have the right to have an attorney that will represent you. Also, you are not required to take probation. You cannot expunge your records later. A class A misdemeanor is considered a felony to most companies!!! He is all about his record not yours!!!

Rude

After initial consultation, he never talked to me again. He doesn't have time to listen to you after first consultation. Very rude. Avoid him. He is not serious at all. AVOID!!
