Kara Ann Batey

Kara Batey is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Oil, Gas and Energy Groups. Kara focuses her practice on a variety of real estate and oil and gas transactional matters. She currently acts as the recruiting shareholder for the firm.

In her real estate practice, Kara represents landlords and tenants in the negotiation of commercial and industrial leases. She also represents buyers, sellers, and lenders in all aspects of the acquisition, financing and sale of real estate. Kara often works with the Business Group in connection with real estate issues associated with mergers and acquisitions.

In her oil and gas practice, Kara represents landowners in the negotiation of all types of agreements affecting the surface and mineral estates, including oil and gas leases, seismic permits, easements, and surface use agreements. She also represents operators and working interest owners in the negotiation of all types of agreements pertaining to the development of the mineral estate. Kara has extensive experience working with oil and gas service companies in the collection of receivables, including preparation and filing of mineral liens and implementation of other collection procedures authorized by law.
