Jessica Lieck graduated summa cum laude from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice. She went on to earn her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law with a concentration in Criminal Law and Innocence. During law school, she served as a two-time President of the Criminal Law Association, President of the Tech chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, and an Advisor on the Diversity Advisory Board. She also worked as a research assistant, was a member of the Student Bar Association, and served as a State Bar Qualified Law Student in the Criminal Defense Clinic.
Her academic excellence was recognized with multiple “Top Grade” awards for Criminal Defense Clinic, Texas Juvenile Law, and Capital Punishment Seminar. Jessica was also the recipient of numerous honors, including the Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete LLP Diversity Scholarship, the Criminal Law Association Scholarship, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Education Institute Charles Butts Scholarship, and the Brendan and Brian Murray Criminal Defense Endowed Scholarship.
Jessica was awarded the Diversity Student Award, given to a student who demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing diversity at Texas Tech University and within the legal profession. She also earned the Pro Bono Achievement Award for completing over 200 hours of pro bono service. As a research assistant, her work was published in the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA) magazine, Voice for the Defense. Jessica is actively involved in the TCDLA, where she serves on both the New Lawyers Committee and the Law Students Committee. She has also been elected to the Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 term.
In 2024, Jessica completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Program, a certification that strengthened her courtroom advocacy by deepening her understanding of field sobriety testing protocols. In 2026, she became a graduate of the TCDLA Tim Evans Texas Criminal Trial College. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyers 2026 Rising Star and as a TCDLA 2026 Rising Star. Jessica has presented at multiple CLEs about mitigation, client control, and how to gain second chair trial experience as a young attorney.
When she is not practicing law, Jessica enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Linus and Wyatt, and her nephews, Micah, Maddox, and Kingston. She is an avid Taylor Swift fan, loves binge-watching true crime documentaries, and can often be found relaxing by the pool
