Choose Charlie

The second toughest part of my arrest (first getting through a night in jail) was to choose an attorney. This was probably one of the most vulnerable times in my life, not knowing who to choose and what I should base my decision on. I was very lucky to have chosen Charlie, he has a calming demeanor, ...walked me through the whole process and what I should expect every step of the way. He was there every time I needed him, the legal process is SLOW so having someone that will respond right away is so important. Aside from his (and his teams) prompt responses, in regards to my case he was able to knock down a DWI charge to a class C ticket and if I get through all my plea agreement have that taken off my record. Does this mean he can do this for you? I have no idea, every case is different, however, if you want an attorney that will be there when you need him, answer all the questions you will have and be upfront and honest on what to expect, then choose Charlie. Best decision I made.

Big Mistake, Never Again

I hired Charlie Roadman in June 2015 to October 2016 for defense against a (BS) felony charge. This the was the 1st time I ever been arrested in my life, I was a 1st time offender with a clean record. I knew the charge would be dismissed if I could find the right attorney to fight for me. I met wit...h Charlie, we agreed on a rate to cover the whole case. I paid the full balance within 3 months. We came up with a plan for my defense and I agreed to take Voluntary group and private therapy to help my case. Within 2 months I was arrested again for violating a P/O directly related to the 1st charge, so now I was facing a felony and Class A Misdeameanor. 1st thing Charlie wanted to discuss was how much he would get for Fighting the extra charge. This was in a small room at the court house just before we went in to see the judge. In court, they wanted to issue a 10 year protective order, Charlie didn’t contest it at all, he just told me to sign it or I would go to jail. This ended up being the biggest mistake throughout the whole ordeal. The judge dropped the 1st charge 3 months later, after she realized what really happened . Now Thinking the 2nd charge was related to the 1st dismissed charge, I thought it would be dismissed or at least pleaded down. First time offender, I showed up to every court date, I completed all the extracurricular courses, and they (Assist DA) would not even negotiate with him. This went on for over a year, so we planned to take it to trial, hoping they would drop the charges then. The day of the trial, they called our bluff and wanted to go to trial, Charlie totally freaked out on me and told me to just plead guilty to the class a misdemeanor Charge, and that “I was lucky the 1st charge was dismissed…” I was ready for trial, but he obviously wasn’t. a year and half and he was not prepared to fight my case in trial. There was no way I was going to plead guilty after all that time, The only thing I could think of was to fire Charlie and ask for new counsel. The judge was angry about it, but he granted my request and I was given a court appointed attorney. 4 months later the 2nd Charge was dismissed. I was told that they never saw any of the extracurricular courses I completed, until my new court appointed attorney turned them in.
