After my initial conversation with her I was quickly put at ease through her ...explanations of my options, and confidence with handling my case. I was also impressed by her not treating me as if it were just another check for her to deposit into her account, but as someone who was not only in need of her help, but also as someone that she was willing to assist to the best of her abilities to resolve my issue. She is also a constant communicator and kept me posted on my case, which was great because I wasn’t constantly left wondering how things are going or what my next steps were. Ms. Powell is very compassionate, professional, courteous, and warm in how she handles her clients, which is an asset that I am eternally grateful that she has. The anxieties that I was feeling quickly subsided when I made the decision to hire her! I didn’t need a law degree to understand anything that she said during my time of working with her, because of her patience in ensuring that I understood every step in this process which made me even more confident with my case and I am so very glad that I had her on my team. She has a VERY warm and inviting personality, and was upfront and honest with me which is something I also appreciated. She didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear, which is something else that I admired about her and her professionalism. She’s very efficient and streamed line my process to ensure that she met the desired deadline. If she told me she was going do something, I was confident in knowing that it was already done! At first Ms. Powell seemed competent to represent me, but I found out a short time later that she would fail to provide very key services that she agreed to provide. She took a $1000.00 deposit from a relative and said that the rest would be taken later. She never charged the card for the additional ...funds for the deposit. I was lied to several times. Even though I asked for a sit down meeting, she only met with me one time on a sidewalk because she was in a hurry. Her lack of communication hindered my case. She seldom answers the phone or returns phone calls. Emails goes for days without a response and she often would just ignore questions that I asked of her. I personally delivered my discovery documents to her, but when I asked for them to be returned or a time and date for me to retrieve them, she stalled for 6 weeks before she put them in the mail. (Which I still have not received) Even though she stated that she was one of my two attorneys, she never filed that with the court. The last time she said that she would arrange for me to retrieve my property, I heard nothing from her on that Friday, all day Saturday and finally on Sunday afternoon, she emailed me that she quit due to lack of communication. This was less than 72 hours prior to court. She says that I still owe her for the additional $1000.
