This guy is a marketer. Not a trial lawyer.

I had a couple felonies. He could've had everything dismissed if, he really handled, and worked on my case. Three lawyers handled my case. He's great about selling himself. He says he has a higher calling. He kinda likes to council/sermon to his clients. Which I'm not knocking him on that. He'll get ...off base, and not address you, your case, needs, and pertinent facts relating to your case. But,...when it comes to handling the cases, and when it matters most; he doesn't really care about being clear on understanding/digesting your case, and fighting with a strong litigating plan. He loves to scrape it off on the lawyers that work for him. Which some have experience, but some really don't. I know that sometimes I couldn't reach him. He wouldn't contact me outright to tell me about my case, and how things were going. He would be out of office on stupid crap. He would schedule meetings, then call them off. I could write a novel. I'm stopping here.

Don't fall in love with the fluff reviews.

Mark does what's best for him. And taking on to many cases and doing the bare minimum is what's best for him. He doesn't fight hard like he claims. He doesn't respond timely and even forgets when you have court with him. He was out of town or on vacation most times that I tried to hammer stuff out. O...n top of that, he use to be a prosecutor, and it shows because he essentially prosecutes you when you try and explain events. Everyone who I have told my plea deal, including other attorneys, all tell me I got screwed. Then they all ask me who my attorney was and when I tell them and they immediately say " That's your problem, that dude is sorry".

Poor service

I was arrested for dwi within three months of moving to Texas. Because my first court date was scheduled two weeks after my arrest, I had to scramble to find a lawyer, unfortunately I didn't know anyone who had to hire one in the past here, so I relied on internet research. Mr Morales appeared to ...have great credentials. I never even met or spoke with him beyond the initial phone consultation until my arraignment. Unfortunately I had failed to read the fine print of his contract and realized later that I would have to pay either another 1500 dollars to be represented by one of his affiliates or 3000 dollars to be represented by him for a jury trial. I had no idea what was going on with my case until the arraignment because every time I called his office after being on hold for 20 minutes, his assistants would tell me that they would not have any information until the arraignment. And if I tried to call his direct line, I would wait for about 10 minutes and then get a recorded message stating that no one was available and it would hang up on me without the option of leaving a message. On the day of my arraignment I found out that because it was my second offense, I did not qualify for a pre trial, so essentially I paid Mark Morales 1500 dollars to do for me what the court appointed attorney would have done.

"Mark Morales and his staff are an excellent criminal defense team. As a former prosecutor, Mark Morales knows the right way to tackle a case and where to push for the weak spots. I have worked together with him when cases overlap between his area, criminal defense, and my area, family law. Sometimes, when it rains it pours. I know that when Mark is watching our client on the criminal front that frees me to concentrate on the family law front. His office is very easy to work with and we've managed to achieve great results for our mutual clients in the past. I highly recommend Mark and his team."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
