My dad died right before the covid and I hired this lawyer to take care of my dad's estate. This lawyer also set up my own estate plan in 2017. We had (and still do have) some items to finish up. About 6 months after we signed our documents, I emailed him a couple of times to make sure we finished... with all the financial documents. He never responded. This lawyer is a likable person and his work seems good. But, he has trouble returning emails, texts, and phone calls as well as following through with some items. After he quickly cashed my retainer, I waited about 4 weeks for him to return my email and texts. Approximately once a week, I either emailed or texted him to find out what was going on and asked him to please contact me. I thought he had ghosted me. He blamed his lack of communication on a computer crash and getting his office set up at the start of the covid.

It took weeks to get any replies from him. I had no confidence in him, I wrote my own letter to the opposing party, but he never reviewed or sent it. I declined to hire him after he did not review documents and my written letter. Also the delayed replies was also a reason. I had a consult and was... going to hire him, but due to the reasons stated above, I elected not to hire him.
