Lazy attorney with too many personal problems who is not responsive

We hired Dawn to handle a simple case where we overpaid child support by 10,000 dollars. She charged a flat rate to get my payments applied to the arrears to get my refund of over 10K. She said it would be a simple case. We paid her flat rate up front almost 2 years ago $3,000 in cash. Since tha...t time, we have had nothing but excuses as to why she can't get started on our case. These issues have nothing to do with the court process but everything to do with her personal issues. Her personal issues such as renovations to the office, death of a family member, sickness of her paralegal, her son's health issues and the excuses went on. These personal issues stopped her from contacting us for the 1st year. She just fell silent. Didn't return phone calls, answer email messages, cancelled appointments we made with her receptionist. This went on for the 1st year. Nothing was done on our case. We are on year number 2 of this "simple" case and now her excuse is she can't get the attorney general to review our case because according to her, he is being investigated for fraud. As if this was something she just learned. She knew about the AG's problems before we ever hired her. We have requested Dawn to provide proof of the work she has done on our case. We made that request at least 10 times. She has never provided any proof that she has worked a single minute on our case. She is full of excuses and she screwed us out of $3,000. To sum it up, Dawn is a horrible horrible attorney and she should not be licensed to practice law anywhere in the US. She stole our money and has done nothing to help us get our payments applied to the arrears that are on file in Texas. These payments have been in limbo for over 10 years. Child support has been paid in full and the proof is there. What is so hard about getting the payments applied properly? She is a disgrace to the profession!
