Biography
Shanna is a native Texan who earned a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas, and her Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law. Shanna gained valuable trial and appellate litigation experience as a certified legal intern for the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office where she won every case she was assigned.
During her law school career, Shanna was President of the Moot Court Honor Society and competed in various moot court competitions. Shanna competed in the American University Burton D. Wechsler First Amendment Competition, where her team earned the Best Brief Award and advanced to the quarterfinals, and the Robert Orseck Florida Bar Moot Court Competition, where her team advanced to the semifinals.
Shanna's dedication to the community earned her the Dean's Community Service Pro Bono Award for her work with the Miami Rescue Mission's Jeffrey A. Tew Education Center. There Shanna taught mathematics, English and grammar to men who suffered from life-controlling problems such as homelessness, chemical abuse or addiction, medical and mental issues, illiteracy and lack of adequate job skills with the goal of improving their academic skills to prepare them for re-entry in the job market.
Shanna has been a resident of Central Texas since 2012. She is the mother of a little girl and is married to her wonderful husband Richard. Aside from enjoying time with her family, Shanna's hobbies include reading crime novels, exploring the great outdoors and walking her dogs Dolce, Oscar, and Sadie.
