Alex Thompson was born and raised just outside of Austin in Dripping Springs, Texas. Alex graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Business Administration with honors from the University of Mississippi in Marketing and Corporate Relations in 2018. Before pursuing her law degree, she accrued years of experience as a litigation assistant in the family law field. Alex became the first lawyer in her family and earned her law degree from Baylor Law School in 2021, where she completed the Family Law Professional Track and was recognized as a Public Interest Fellow for completing over 250 pro bono hours.
While in law school, Alex was active in several moot court teams, mock trial, and client counseling competitions, many of which she was either a finalist or won. She served in various elected leadership positions and executive boards, such as Vice President for the Student Bar Association and Student Ambassador for Baylor Law. Alex also gained valuable exposure to various legal systems through her work with different offices and agencies, such as the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas, the Travis County District Attorney's Office, the McLennan County District Attorney's Office, and the Office of the Attorney General, where she clerked for the Honorable Judge Phillip F. Arrien of the 414TH District Court. She also honed her legal writing and research skills through her research assistant positions, including on a brief of Amicus Curiae regarding Allen v. Cooper, in which the United States Supreme Court granted a petition for certiorari in 2019 and affirmed the Fourth Circuit’s ruling in 2020.
Alex is passionate about being active in the Central Texas community and giving back to the people and businesses around her. Alex currently serves as Course Director for the Dating Violence Mock Trial Program, in collaboration with Dripping Springs ISD and the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center, where she leads in teaching high school students through a mock trial program on what to do when faced with dating violence and how to identify the warning signs.
After graduating and passing the Texas bar exam, Alex returned to her hometown of Dripping Springs to focus on her practice of family law and helping the community she grew up around and currently lives in. Alex enjoys running, traveling to new cities and countries when she can, and enjoying time with her family.
