Joshua Adam Cummings

In 2018, he was part of the first ever group of attorneys certified for Property Owners Association Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. As of January 1, 2024, he is the only attorney with this certification in Hidalgo County and Cameron County. He has been selected to author and present papers at the State Bar of Texas’ Advanced Property Owners Association seminars for the past four years. Previously, the paper he presented and co-authored on short-term rentals and property owners associations was selected as one of the ten best at the 41st Annual Advanced Real Estate Law seminar presented by The State Bar of Texas.

In 2022, he was the first practicing Hidalgo County attorney in forty-one years to become certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. As of January 1, 2024, he is one of three attorneys with this certification in Hidalgo County and Cameron County.

Mr. Cummings is the only attorney in the State of Texas with the combined certifications of Property Owners Association Law and Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Mr. Cummings was elected by his peers to serve as President of the Hidalgo County Bar Association and Hidalgo County Bar Foundation for 2015-2016. He currently serves on the board of the Valley Symphony Orchestra, Juan Diego Academy and the McAllen Country Club.

He is admitted to practice in Texas, U.S. District Court Southern District of Texas, and U.S. District Court Western District of Texas. Besides being a member of the American Bar Association, Community Association Institute (CAI), RGV Estate Planning Council, The College of the State Bar of Texas, and the Texas Bar Foundation.

He is a native Texan, who has been practicing in Rio Grande Valley since graduating from Baylor University with a law degree and bachelor’s degree in economics. Mr. and Mrs. Cummings are the proud parents of three daughters, who enjoy spending time playing tennis and visiting South Padre Island.
