Pat Deveau was appointed as the amicus attorney in my Bexar County custody case and remained assigned to the case for nearly two years before the final trial. Based on my experience, I was extremely disgusted with her investigation, preparation, lack of review of evidence, and overall handling of the... case. Over the course of approximately two years, Ms. Deveau came to my home to meet with my child only twice. During that same period, I provided her with extensive documentation concerning the issues in our custody case. This included CPS information, police reports, emails, communications, documentation concerning violations of the court order and permanent injunction, medical information, school-related concerns, and evidence that contradicted numerous allegations being made by the opposing party. Despite receiving this information, it became apparent to me on the day of trial that Ms. Deveau had NOT reviewed significant documentation I had provided to her at all! This was not simply my assumption. During trial, my own attorney had to personally show Ms. Deveau documentation and proof addressing allegations and representations from the opposing party that she apparently believed to be true AND WAS BASED HER RECOMMENDATION ON. Information that had already been provided during the case had to be brought directly to her attention by me numerous times ! In my observation, she appeared completely unaware of significant evidence concerning issues that had been disputed for nearly two years. After my attorney presented the documentation to her on trial day , it became apparent that she had not previously understood the extent to which I contended the opposing party had repeatedly provided her with false or misleading information. That moment was especially troubling to me because Ms. Deveau had been involved in this case two years. I had repeatedly provided documentation and communicated my concerns to her and she did nothing . Yet on the day of the final trial, my attorney still had to show her evidence that I believed she should have already reviewed and understood as part of her investigation considering she charged over 9k for her service . Most significantly, after this documentation was brought directly to her attention on the day of trial, Ms. Deveau changed her position. She had previously been advocating for a 50/50 possession arrangement. After my attorney showed her the documentation contradicting certain allegations and representations she had apparently been relying upon given to her by opposing party, she ultimately changed her recommendation and supported an Extended Standard Possession Order instead of 50/50 possession. For me, that change raised a very serious question: How could a recommendation as significant as 50/50 possession have been made before the underlying documentation had been thoroughly reviewed! I had provided information concerning numerous CPS allegations that I maintained were false and that CPS did not substantiate. I provided police reports, emails, and other records that I believed demonstrated inconsistencies in the opposing party's allegations. I also repeatedly communicated concerns regarding compliance with the existing court order and permanent injunction. Additionally, I provided information concerning the other parent's involvement in our child's daily life. My concerns included missed school pickups, missed visits , refusal and failure to participate in any extracurricular activities, failure to attend or transport our child to any medical and cardiology appointments, doing false reports to police and CPS . Avoid this amicus !! Spend the money and go back to court if she’s appointed to you and request a different amicus Attorney. You will lose your kid because of her . Document everything with this lady record every single conversation you will need to defend yourself against her accusations and recommendations.

I been fighting a custody battle for the past 2yrs, this lady spoke to my daughter twice. she stated that she was going to be my daughters voice, and she will tell the judge my daughters feeling, she never told the judge what my daughter told her or what the therapist that is involve with the case, s...he LIE and I could it speak, she wanted to send my daughter with a men that my daughter see like a stranger, this guys never been involve with my child, this lady had to fly to Florida to see the environment and the fathers home, well let me tell you this lady never flue because he did not pay her his half. I don't recommended this lady she is her just for the money she DONT CARE THE CHILD WEALTH . Now my child have to fly up to Florida and she don't want to she cry's every other day. since I told her what they determine my child is not the same.

DeVeau is one of the worst attorneys in San Antonio or in America. She was court appointed to be a voice for my child. DeVeau only met with my daughter 3 times in a span of 2 years. She is only interested in being paid. She gave strict instruction to a therapist involved and to CPS to "skew" the ...information my daughter gave in order to favor the opposing party. Thankfully the judge saw this and immediately dismissed DeVeau from the case. The therapist involved almost lost her license for listening to DeVeau. She still practices law from 1960 and believes that it still applies today. She will make promises verbally and in writing and will boldly say that "you" misunderstood. DeVeau is so anxious in getting paid, that even with a court order 3 year pay schedule - she and her office will call weekly demanding money. Save your money, read a law book, and you will be better qualified than Patricia DeVeau.

Pat was a court appointed attorney in a fight against CPS. She was difficult to contact and never had a strategy to win. She arrived to court on time, made nice with CPS and never fought for me and my child. I'm not sure who she was working for. Not surprisingly, she lost the case. I lost my chi...ld.
