Mysti Murphy

After I hired her we had a court date. I sat there that morning and she never showed up. I had to tell the other attorney that I don't know where she is and can they just talk later. They don't open the office early enough to talk to anyone at that time either. She told me she would take some off... my account for the trouble. She got temp orders pretty quick. I gave her a list of things I wanted changed. A year does by where they nickel and dime me for emails and phone calls. Yet I never heard what the other party thought for a year. I don't know if they talked at all. No back and forth. No they will give you this if you give that. Next to nothing for a year. So a year later my thousands are gone and I don't know anymore than I did a year ago. I fired her when my account was $0. They told me about paperwork I needed to sign to end the agreement. They told me a date when it needed to be returned. Then they email me over and over about returning it. Both her and her assistant on the same day. Then she wants me to pay for each email. Even though I fired her, and I knew the date I had to get it back to them by. What a waste of money. I could have agreed to my ex's demands for free and been way better off.

I consulted Ms. Murphy and liked her well enough to call back a few days later to engage her as my divorce attorney. I was told she was at a seminar all week and would call me back the following week. Long story short, 3 weeks went by with no communication. I finally called back and the admin assi...stant apologized and indicated I had fallen through the cracks. Against my better judgment, we scheduled a call with Ms. Murphy for 2 pm the next day, with me to initiate the call. When I called, the phone repeatedly went to voice mail. I called 8 or 10 times and left two messages. Within an hour I received a call from a firm I had never heard of, saying that Ms. Murphy had referred my file to them, because she didn't know the judges in Comal County well while they supposedly did. If she felt not qualified in Comal County, why didn't she tell me earlier? To top that, Ms. Murphy's admin then called me to apologize for the blown meeting and said they had called me twice. I asked at what number they had called, and she read back my home number, which I had stressed to them not to call. She was calling my wife! Ms. Murphy may be a very competent attorney, but I feel I was treated very unprofessionally. I think that is part of the risk in dealing with a one attorney, one admin assistant office, and consumers should beware. I think I was lucky to get away from this firm (and no way was I going to use the firm they referred).
