Tireless advocate for underdog fathers

I retained Ms. Jamieson in March ‘19 to represent me in my second divorce. Mr. Hardy, senior partner, represented me in my first one, which was relatively civil in comparison (we utilized the collaborative law approach). I couldn’t afford him a second time around. Being the junior associate of a resp...ected firm, with access to experienced partners, I felt having a woman represent my interests as a father was a good choice. From the start, I was the underdog. This marriage was volatile, and I had documented losses of temper where I yelled at my wife and stepkids, and there were some physical altercations but no violent abuse. I was not going to look good to a judge and knew it on day one of my initial consultation with Ms. Jamieson, so I gave the facts straight. My wife beat me to the punch retaining Ms. Deanna Whitley and filing her petition. I was playing catchup. My wife was a stay-at-home mom who never worked in her adult life. We had a child who hadn’t even turned one at the time we split. He was premature with high potential to be autistic like his brothers (my stepsons). A “medically fragile special needs child” as Ms. Whitley said nonstop. I had done a self-help prenup via the web before the marriage, and thought that would protect me. But Ms. Whitley wanted to invalidate it and get a disproportionate share of the money in retribution for my alleged abuse. My wife was trying to extort me for child support above Texas guideline all the way into adulthood, all the decision rights, and limiting my time with him. She was out for blood. Over a brutal 14 mo divorce, Ms. Jamieson pushed back in every possible way. She bought me time to let the bad behavior age into the past. She got a supervisor for my visits for a month as a witness to how I am with kids and then a custody evaluator that saw me as a good dad. She went to bat on the prenup, but we couldn’t put its validity to bed via summary judgement. The stress of setbacks, delays, and my wife’s repeated court order violations got to me, and there were times I lashed out at Ms. Jamieson. She bore through it like a pro and still continued to back me. We finally got to mediation, and my wife asked an ungodly unreasonable settlement and walked when she didn’t get it, forcing us into litigation. And that is where I absolutely CANNOT recommend Ms. Jamieson enough. It was incredible to see her put on an airtight, ironclad presentation of my case, but then she also completely demolished my wife’s credibility, or any merit to what she wanted. By the 4th day, when the judge ruled, I had the prenup enforced, completely securing my property. I got a 50/50 schedule for my son from age 3-18. I got a joint say in decisions when my wife wanted to shut me out. And we limited her getting right of first refusal only until he turns school age. Yes, my wife got guideline child support, but not a penny more like she wanted. And that just means my son won’t suffer for her broke life choices. At first, that chafed me having to keep paying her after I lost so much money dragging things out. Especially because Ms Jamieson made the cases night and day in comparison. But as soon as I talked to her after the verdict, she set me at ease: what I got was worlds better than my settlement offer. I was better off for fighting. And that’s a big win. Ms. Jamieson’s hourly rate is a steal in terms of the quality and competence she offers. She’s brilliant, professional, compassionate, and has the ability to ruthlessly get the testimony she needs from witnesses. If you are a father looking for someone to stand up for you, Ms. Jamieson is your woman. Hands down. Much appreciation to her team of Kathy and Monica, as well, who prepared the ridiculous amount of communication and financial documentation I turned over into evidence. They are a highly effective team together. I am very grateful to have made the choice I did in this ugly, bloody ordeal.

Dynamic and Professional Attorney

I hired Ann almost three years ago to represent me in my divorce and then again last year in a custody dispute. My primary concern both times was the safety of my child. Due to my ex's non-compliance with our decree and court orders we spent the majority of the last three years in some form of liti...gation. Through it all, Ann was my rock and fought for me and my child as if I was her only client. She communicated regularly with updates, was thorough in all her research and work, collaborated with her partners when necessary and has never let me down. She is extremely knowledgeable, prepared and takes whatever time is required to do things right and in your best interest. She made me feel like I had a friend and partner in my struggles, not just a hired representative. When it finally came time for our multi-day trial she was there early, worked through lunch and re-capped with me at the end of each day. She always did her homework and was able to substantiate and back up all our requests with applicable, current case law. Ultimately, she was able to ensure the best interest of my child was carried out and the judge denied all my ex's demands in full. Ann even won her argument for and we were awarded 100% attorney's fees. (She is so good that while we were in recess, waiting for the judge to rule, my ex approached her and complimented her and told her "no matter how this turns out, [he] wanted her to know she is truly an amazing attorney.") Having used two other family practice attorneys and interviewed a few others, Ann is by far the best I've ever met. I cannot praise her enough for her dedication and energy. Regardless of the issues at hand, I know Ann will always give you the best advice (even if it's not what you want to hear) and will be straight with you. I highly recommend Ann and can attest to her amazing ability to navigate through the complex, violent, and oftentimes exhausting requests and behaviors of my ex.

POWERFUL DYNAMIC LAWYER

A lady from my support group at church recommended Ann. When I met Ann I was a wreck. My husband cleared out our bank accounts and left me with four young children and I was a stay at home mom. Ann provided me with so much information on the process of divorce through her law firm's introduction vid...eo. It outlined the process of divorce, how to conduct your self during court proceedings, and many other informative things. I was always asked if I had any questions and even if I did not Ann would go over typical questions that most people would have. Every day I heard from Ann by email or phone call. If she was going to be busy she would always let me know what she had going on for her day and week so I would not feel neglected if she didn't respond right away. At the end of the week her firm would send me a very detailed invoice that showed where every penny went to for my case and she was always open if there were any questions. When she communicated with m y ex husband's lawyer or anyone she always sent me a professional email statement that showed exactly what she sent and the response. If his lawyer didn't respond within a reasonable time frame she would contact me and let me know what the next course of action would be. Ann never did anything that would cost without getting my input or permission. Ann always pulled out her big lawyers books and would dig deeper into what she knew we needed to fight for in order to make sure we had everything we needed for court. She always met with me at least a week prior to any time we needed to go to court to go over any details and to explain all the possible outcomes. Ann knew the law so much and she had such a great team and she had so much resources that she created a divorce decree that will secure my four children now and their future no matter what happens to my ex husband. One of the things Ann taught me was to trust her and listen to what she tells me. She told me no matter what be honest and stick to what any order says no matter how painful or what my ex may do. She also told me to document everything on Our Family Wizard on the our family wizard website. In addition to documenting everything she recommended for me to make everything I document accessible for my ex through his our family wizard account. The reason she recommended for me to do that was so if he had any disagreements with anything he could respond. Everything she told me to do I did. Six months into our divorce decree my ex wasn't paying the support he was ordered and he didn't pay or deliver the things he was ordered to in the decree. I contacted Ann again and hired her to do an enforcement. Within a week Ann had everything together and had my ex served. Even though my ex didn't do what he was ordered I never kept our children from him nor did I do anything like calling and harassing him this was advice Ann stressed constantly. When it was time for court I had so much paper trail to support me that Ann was able to get my ex husband's lawyer number three to talk him into EVERYTHING WE WERE REQUESTING. Ann did such a great job with her research, knowledge, and execution that I did not have to go in front of a judge for my decree or the enforcement. She is a VERY aggressive professional young lady and she is going to continue to go far in her career. in conclusion I would recommend Ann Watson because she is trustworthy by giving her clients the best legal advice that will fit the need of the client, she is very responsive and responds with in 24 hours, she is knowledgeable and she will pull out her big lawyer books right in front of a client to do more research, and she will keep you informed through the entire process. Even though Ann has only been licensed for a year I can promise you her integrity goes far beyond the years she has been practicing and that alone should be a reason why you should contact Ann to assist you in your legal matters.

Unfortunately…

I did not have a five star experience. Won’t go into detail. Divorce was the hardest thing I have ever experienced. . You need a very supportive team ! She isn’t cheap. I did not get what I payed for ! She was ill, on vacation or involved in cases that were more important than mine.
