State Jail Felony Possession Case

Warren Wolf was recommended by my old criminal defense attorney, who has retired. Warren Wolf represented me in a first felony offense drug possession case in San Antonio. I was already serving deferred adjudication, having used a court appointed attorney for that. A few months into probation, becaus...e of the TAIP evaluation, the judge ordered that I go to SAFP, which would have meant being confined in what is essentially a prison for 6-9 months. Of course I was flipping out. I had no idea they could and would do something like that for a first time state jail felony offense. The whole reason I signed the deferred adjudication papers (with my court appointed attorney) was to avoid prison. Warren Wolf presented a motion that got me out of that harsh punishment, and the judge issued a new order that I could substitute private rehab (much shorter, and no confinement) for SAFP. Furthermore, not only did I not have to go to SAFP, but I didn't need to pay for inpatient rehab either! I got outpatient rehab, which I didn't even realize at first because it was so unbelievable. I was expecting (and nervously hoping) for inpatient rehab. Only when my probation officer told me I only needed to do outpatient did I fully realize and appreciate what Mr. Wolf did for me. His fee wasn't cheap, but I decided to pay the steep fee because when I googled him I found out he that took a case all the way to the Supreme Court of the USA, and won. (That case was Trevino vs. Thaler... google it.) My court-appointed attorney was no longer working for me and he wanted "at least $1000", but I didn't trust him and decided to go with Warren Wolf. Also, as I mentioned, he was recommended by my previous criminal defense attorney, who is an old family friend. In the end, I ended up saving a bunch of money because I didn't have to pay out-of-pocket for inpatient rehab. Outpatient is much less expensive. and there are other benefits like being able to work and also look after my elderly parents. I wish I had hired Warren Wolf to start with instead of going with the court appointed attorney, who didn't seem very motivated to fight for me. I am very grateful and I pray that I may never need Warren Wolf's services again.
