Uncontested this is the best lawyer I’ve had!

Hands down great lawyer, very responsive, catering to every need or concern, always punctual and handles her business very professionally. After hiring Lauren I will never use another law firm for family/ criminal needs.

Fierce Representation

First off, I must say, getting a divorce as a father is a horrible experience. Especially if you are a good father and plan on trying to be involved in your childs life more than what your ex or courts expect you to be. After I realized what I would be facing, the search for a good divorce lawyer beg...an. San Antonio is filled with lawyers, but it is a rare find to have one represent you that is willing to go to trial and fight next to you diligently; and that is exactly what you will find here. After I found Lauren Smyth, she was the first one to contact me back even after business hours. Although my divorce was around the holidays, there she was at the courthouse on Christmas Eve retrieving the status and filing documents to get a hearing as soon as the holiday break was over. She is professional, keeps you informed, and makes you feel much at ease with her knowledge and experience. So long as you do your part, stay organized, make the effort, and present yourself properly - you will be taken care of. No one wants to go through a divorce with a timid lawyer who doesnt look the part, so do not waste your time searching elsewhere.

She allegedly didn't do much for me for $7,500

I was stood up for 9 am docket on 6/20/24. Fact, Lauran called me at 11:18 and allegedly asked me to return to courthouse within 30 minutes. Now I know for a fact that I had filled out, collected, and emailed to her office a bunch of documents, bank statements, phone / text messages, affidavit, et...c. I know for a fact that on 6/17/24 her office emailed me Temporary Order Proposal from my ex's lawyer. I know for a fact that I sent a revised Temporary Order Proposal with my agreements on 6/18/24. I know for a fact that Lauran only had a printed copy of my ex's Temporary Order Proposal and did not show up with a copy of my Temporary Order Proposal. I know for a fact that Lauran was tapping away on her phone most of the time whilst sitting next to me waiting on me to make a decision on getting bent over or getting bent over. I also know for a fact that she took a call discussing another case because I was sitting right next to her and heard some of the conversations. I know for a fact that I had already received an email at 1:51 pm on 6/20/24 for the remaining $4,000 balance of the $7,500 total. I know for a fact that I had to send out 3 emails the following day 6/21/24 inquiring about a copy of what was signed before receiving it not until 8:46 pm that evening. I know for a fact that on 7/2/24 I called Lauran's office inquiring a billing statement from them and asked what to expect next. I know for a fact that on 7/8/24 I received an email from her office. Dear Hector, Owing to circumstance outside of our control, the case has stalled and the law firm is now acting upon the terms our Legal Services Agreement to withdraw from your case. Attached to this email is our Order to Withdraw (“Order”). This is time-critical - please sign, scan (pdf) and return to us at your earliest convenience. Kind regards, Amberlyn Carrillo Legal Auxilliary 210-201-2136 In response to that email I know for a fact that I inquired about billing statement again and a better explanation since I had payed her full retainer and just only began with the divorce process. I know for a fact that they have yet to respond. Facts 6 Received emails from Carrington Smyth PLLC <@lapay.com all emails pertained about payment owed and made. Facts 9 email received from [email protected] 8 of which were automated emails requesting information from me. 1 email with copy of Temporary Order Proposal Fact 3 emails I sent to [email protected] 1st return of LSA 2nd sent my revised Temporary Order Proposal. 3rd I emailed inquiring for a copy of Temporary Order Proposal Fact Calls I received from Lauran 4 calls on 6/20/24 an average of 18 minutes were spent on all 4 calls combined. Fact Zero calls I made directly to Lauran Fact Zero conversation i had with Lauran prior to meeting her in courthouse hallway on 6/20/24 Fact 8 calls that I made to Lauran's office totaling an average of 30 minutes combined. Fact 2 calls received from Lauran's office. 1st call was 42 minutes 2nd call 3 minutes. Fact I walked into the courthouse right around 12 pm and was walking out of there right around 12:30. Fact Lauran did not have a copy of my Temporary Order Proposal nor was she aware of it. Fact Lauran was preoccupied and and I did not have her undivided attention for the 30 minutes with her. I felt rushed to make a decision without proper counseling. Lauran asked me several timed if I thought getting bent over was a good deal and never once opened the email I sent her 2 days prior with my terms to Temp Order.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
