Michele P. Esparza

With over 26 years of experience as a trial attorney, Michele Esparza has earned the respect and trust of clients, attorneys and judges throughout the State of Texas. She has tried numerous complex and lengthy criminal jury trials, and successfully defended several high profile cases involving media attention and public scrutiny. Michele has authored several notable appellate responses directing the reversals of trial court rulings. Over the last 15 years, Michele has operated her own firm dedicated to representing individuals accused of the most serious criminal offenses.

Prior to establishing her own private practice, she served as an Assistant County Attorney and Assistant District Attorney in the Brazos County. When she entered private practice as an associate for a distinguished local law firm, Michele became Board Certified in Criminal Law. This Criminal Law Specialist certification is maintained only by the small percentage of defense lawyers that have acheieved the qualification after review by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. In addition, Michele is part of an even smaller group of criminal defense attorney that is certified to serve as lead counsel for death penalty cases. Michele has been approved as a certified death penalty atorney by a regional judicial panel since 2000.

In addition, Michele has served as a faculty and contributing member to several criminal defense advocacy organizations, associations and educational conferences and seminars for criminal defense attorneys throughout the State of Texas, including her service on the Board for the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Education Committee.
