I hired Tate Thompson Law to handle two matters for me: transferring a couple of properties into a different name and handling a separate civil matter involving Galveston County. When I hired her, I paid a $700 retainer and was told that amount should be sufficient to handle both matters. Ultimate...ly, the only thing that was completed was the property deed transfers. The Galveston County matter was never handled by her. My builder eventually went to the county himself and got the situation taken care of. Communication throughout the process was also extremely frustrating. Calls and texts frequently went unanswered, and when I did receive a response, there always seemed to be an excuse about being out of town or why things had not been done. What should have been a relatively straightforward process dragged on for months. What frustrated me most was that after the work we originally discussed was not even completed, I was then presented with an additional bill of approximately $1,500 on top of the $700 retainer. That was completely inconsistent with what I understood and was told when I hired the firm. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Tate Thompson Law. I hired an attorney because I wanted these matters handled professionally and efficiently. Instead, one of the matters was never handled at all, someone else had to take care of it, communication was poor, the process took months, and I ultimately received an additional bill despite not receiving the services we originally discussed.
