A Grateful Client

Owen Lockwood is an intelligent and highly skilled strategist. He is thorough, organized, and transparent. As a fierce and respectful advocate for his clients in court, Owen took a massive burden off my shoulders during a very difficult time. He simplified an emotionally charged and overwhelming leg...al process with remarkable skill. His expertise and approach make him a highly respected figure among his peers, earning him recognition as Litigator of the Year in one of many legal organizations. Owen is not just a skilled lawyer, but also a person of great integrity. His understanding of the law and his commitment to his client’s rights is clear in the courtroom, where he prepared me thoroughly for hearings and provided excellent support in gathering necessary materials. I found his fees to be reasonable in relation to the complexity of family law cases, and he has been generous with his time and knowledge throughout our work together. While I am grateful fo the overall outcome of the case, I believe there are areas where the legal profession, and even Owen himself, can evolve further—particularly in the realms of empathy and understanding. As a survivor of abuse, it is critical to experience direct empathy when navigating the challenges and emotional stress of the legal process. Understanding the complexities of financial abuse and its long-term impact on a survivor’s emotional and financial well-being can improve the negotiation process and lead to more sustainable, informed solutions, and achieve shared needs and related goals. Also important is the importance of transparency and proactivity in sharing critical changes in legal team. Proactivity and transparency will eliminate putting clients in a vulnerable position. Because the star system is unforgiving. I kept the rating at 5 stars. However, the aforementioned are areas that can be improved. Moreover, while the law itself is often rigid and impersonal, professional empathy can help bridge this gap. It can foster patience and a deeper understanding of why certain legal challenges occur, which would significantly ease the stress that clients face. It would be beneficial if legal professionals were better equipped to offer explanations that help clients understand the reasoning behind difficult legal roadblocks. This approach would not only strengthen the client-lawyer relationship but also help survivors feel heard, validated, and not blamed (for matters that resulted from mutual actions). A lawyer taking accountability for the relationship dynamics of a client-lawyer relationship is empowering and set a good example for clients to do the same. Lastly, integrating knowledge-sharing about similar cases—without breaching confidentiality—could be valuable for helping clients better navigate their situations, especially given that many cases are available for the public to review and especially if one has worked with someone on a similar case that is publicly published. This could also serve as an important resource in strategizing more effectively with clients who are working through trauma and rebuilding their lives. I am incredibly grateful for Owen’s belief in my case and his dedication and skill in navigating a tough legal system. Survivors often feel and are isolated, especially when they stand up for themselves, and having an advocate like Owen in your corner can help restore the confidence to keep fighting for what’s right. I believe that with a continued focus on empathy and trauma-informed strategies, Owen, his practice, and his clients will continue to succeed, ensuring that all clients, especially survivors, feel fully supported and empowered throughout the legal process.

Simply the best

Im doing this as a favor to everyone out there that might find themselves in need of a divorce. PLEASE, don't waste your time going elsewhere. Mr. Lockwood and Allison Jones are accurate, knowledgeable, wise, ethical people. I tried 3 attorneys before finding them, and I wasted my time and about $16,...000. Then I found them and they rescued me.
