Look elsewhere

I hired John out of a recommendation of my mother in law. When I came in for a consultation I was explaining to him everything that has happened with my daughters father so I could get advise on what I should do. In the middle of me talking he cuts me off and says "So what are you wanting me to do? W...hy are you telling me all this what do you want me to do?" Well I wanted advise on what my options were...I ended up hiring him because he did end up answering my questions and told me he would offer termination for a step parent adoption and if not we would go from there. We went to our first mediation together but I did not get much advise from him whatsoever, "you slept with him and had a kid so deal with it" is not advise. We ended up agreeing on several things, SAFE program, supervised visitation every other weekend, etc. With the child support John requested that he send his check stubs to verify pay. I emailed 3 times, called twice and still have yet to get a reply whether or not this was done.. Keep in mind the mediation was in Oct. 16 and its Feb 17. This has happened several times where I would attempt to reach out via email to follow up on something that was supposed to be done with the other party and never got a response. I went to talk to John about my case with my mother and husband because my mother is the supervisor for the visitations and there were several comments that have been made that made my mother have concerns for the safety of my daughter once she goes by herself to her fathers house. John refused to answer any questions. When my mother asked questions about the safety and well being of my daughter, he stated that he did not need to respond and that he didn't have time to research properly on my case. He claimed my mother was verbally abusing him but he was the only one verbally abusive raising his voice in an angry manner to my family, but most importantly a client of his. He asked us to leave and told us he was going to call the cops and told me he would refund me $500. My husband went back after the whole fiasco to talk to John and he told my husband that he did not realize that this case needed much effort and he was only helping me out because he "felt sorry for me", along with insulating my mother and calling her a b****. When hiring an attorney you need someone to fight for your case, not only that but your child(ren). You should be able to express your concerns and get advise. Not insulted.
