Divorce is never a pleasant process, but with the right attorney, it could be a lot less painless and costly. I was lucky to find and work with Loreen, who really cared about my best interests and yet was also very understanding of the complexity and delicacy of my co-parenting relationship, which helped finalize my Final Decree Agreement in the terms that both reserved financial security and set the right tone for the co-parenting journey. She could relate from the parenting perspectives which was a bonus. Her communication was swift, timely, precise, and professional. She knew when to put her foot down and when to be lenient. Lori Blackwell was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she received her undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. Ms. Blackwell received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in December of 2007 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas the following May.

Ms. Blackwell began her career practicing general civil litigation and was naturally drawn to the primary practice of family law. "Although the subject matter is often difficult, I feel that I am helping people move on to the next chapter in their lives." says Ms. Blackwell. Her compassionate interaction and background make her highly qualified for complex property division cases and high conflict custody cases alike.

In addition to high conflict and contested cases, Ms. Blackwell has successfully helped numerous clients navigate the procedural hurdles that can arise even in amicable divorces and other uncontested matters. Ms. Blackwell is also trained in the Collaborative process.

Wish we would have found her sooner!

After using another lawyer and feeling like a constant bother and getting nowhere, I feel like she was a Godsend. I was dealing with a termination of parental rights/stepparent adoption case against my abusive ex husband who was incarcerated. Although incarcerated, his family had unlimited financial resources to fight us. They hired an attorney that was part of the State Legislature in order to get legislative (any any other possible) continuances granted. This case took two years. In those year, Lori was a constant source of not only legal knowledge and professionalism, but also comfort. You could tell she was invested in this case. It was personally important for her to fight for what was right. I truly believed she saved our son's life. She kept him from a violent criminal and gave him a sense of security that he so desperately needed. We are forever grateful for Lori and I highly recommend her.

Cannot say enough about Lori and her team!

I cannot say enough about Lori. Getting a divorce was not what I envisioned for me and my family, especially with three young kids, but going through it with Lori as my attorney made a daunting process into one that was actually bearable. When I first contacted Lori, I did not even know if I wanted to go through with the divorce yet. She answered all my questions and was professional, kind, and not pushy at all, which is something I really appreciated. Months later, I contact her again after I made my decision. She listened to me and what I wanted, patiently answered my many questions, advised, and advocated for me the entire time. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the entire process, and in the end, I ended up with not only the terms I wanted, but felt like I also gained a new friend in the process. THE BEST EVER

There are no words in the English language that can express the value of having Lori on our case. We were going through a nasty termination of parental rights case, while optimistic it felt impossible that we would get everything we wanted out of the case. Lori poured her heart, mind, and soul into our family against a blank check defendant, and she totally wrecked shop. I can honestly say without a doubt if it were not for Lori Blackwell, I would not have a son, that I have raised since he was three years old, with my last name. In short just hire Lori, she is the best ever.

Superior Family Attorney

If you find yourself in an unfortunate divorce situation, I highly recommend Lori. Modification of Parent-Child Relationship

I hired Lori to help me modify standard orders put in place by Harris County. From the beginning we knew this was going to be a difficult task. Lori stayed persistent through the entire process. With her knowledge and experience she helped me win my case. Lori was very professional all the while acknowledging my concerns and genuinely caring about my child's well-being. Great Attorney!

In 2020 my wife and I decided to divorce. During that moment of feeling lost, Loreen was there to help me pick up and move forward. Excellent and professional

Ms. Blackwell recently represented me in a family lawsuit. I researched a number of family law firms in Harris County, TX. In particular, I was looking for a family lawyer specializing in complicated property division. After narrowing down my search to a dozen family lawyers specializing in property division, I spoke with each of them on the phone and Ms. Blackwell stood out as the one with the best knowledge in this area. I decided to choose Ms. Blackwell to help me with the case, and that turned out to be a great decision. Ms. Blackwell is professional, very knowledgeable, and very responsive. Great legal experience

Awesome Professional Counsel

Superb legal counsel!

I employed Lori through KHC and I couldn't be more pleased with her services. I was over 3000 miles away from her and she made my experience as pleasant as it could possibly be. I needed changes to my divorce decree, and she was very knowledgeable on the whole process and actually fixed what needed fixed plus exceeded my expectations. Understanding and Tactful Attorney

Being in the military and it being impossible for me to return from overseas for my divorce case seemed to be a big obstacle. The professionalism and eagerness to assist me in my case from Attorney Blackwell made it an easy choice when it came to selection. She was tactful in collecting everything needed for the case and delivering needed documents. When It came down to it, she quickly took the case in court and bent it in our favor. Being that I could be physically present, she provided an alternative means of attendance (Telephonic). This allowed this case to be affordable and less painful overall. I sincerely recommend her as an Attorney in my Family law Suit. I hope that I will not need to employ a lawyer again, but if I am needing one, it would definitely be Attorney Blackwell.

Excellent Family Law Attorney

I retained Ms. Blackwell to represent me in a divorce. It was a rather messy divorce, involving custody disputes as well as a large amount of assets my former husband was hiding. Ms. Blackwell was extremely professional from the moment we first met. She was always available to answer my questions and I was able to sleep at night knowing that my best interests were in good hands. Her investigative strategy was invaluable at bringing to light the falsities that my ex-husband presented, and thanks to her hard work, the truth came out we got our desired result. I would absolutely recommend Ms. Blackwell in the future.
