Ineffective Counseling

Wowww, I thought I was the only one who was misrepresented. Every review that I have read pertaining to Attorney Villagomez, I experienced. My case was back in April of 2010. I was charged with Identity Theft and Organized Crime, with a bond set at 100,000. The offer on the table started at 20 ...years, which he never tried to get lowered. This was my first time EVER getting in trouble. First Attoney Villagomez said that I would plead not guilty, then on down the line he changed it to me pleading guilty. As you all have stated, I never met with Attorney Villagomez in his office, I only spoke with his wife on the phone whenever someone did answer the phone and on the days I had to appear in court. He reset my case for over a year and then he advised me that the judge said he could not reset it anymore. (which is a lie) My job at the time gave me the choice to resign. Well I didn't get a chance to do that because Attorney Villagomez wife did not get the paperwork to me in time. Attorney Villagomez told me the only way that I might be able to get probation would be to have a PSI Hearing, which wasn't nothing to me but a set up. At the PSI Hearing the DA recommended 30 years in TDCJ, which Judge Michael T. McSpadden agreed to. Can you all believe it???? 30 years with it being my first time ever getting in trouble. Oh and to top it off....after Attorney Villagomez took my case, he later told me that he hadn't ever worked a case like mines before. My question to him was why would take my case and you know you weren't going to be able to work the case on my behalf. SMH. I filed ineffective counseling while I was incarcerated, but did not win. It's still very hard for me after so many years in understanding this and I may never be able to understand this. But I do know that something needs to be done with this attorney. As someone stated in the reviews....all the cases that Attorney Villagomez represented needs to be reviewed again. I know that I am still suffering with this because I am having to take medicine for anxiety and depression. Someone please help us

No stars if could READ THE OTHER REVIEW

Just as someone else wrote a review here, he did the exact same thing to me. Had me nervous for a whole year of constantly resetting the case, sometimes even running late when there’s a docket calling. Kept promising for dismissal, then it was a pre-trial agreement, then I also got blind sided into t...aking a plea deal last minute. This was virtually my first offense ever in anything. He and his wife kept repeating to keep in touch and yada yada but only really want to start being attentive after harassing for another check. They kept saying they needed more money to perform “forensics” and for resources to help out the case. I was always kept in the dark about my case after wanting to be informed of each proceeding/setting. Yes they’ll keep taking your money, they’ll act concerned and determined but hardly slim-none communication.

Lawyer never calls his clients for a first visit, he takes your money in CASH, and then never calls you to discuss case.

This lawyer takes your case, but NEVER calls you to discuss anything about your case!. He waits to talk to you for 5 minutes at the first hearing! His wife does all the listening and talking to his clients since he won't take the time to do so, and his wife is not a lawyer! Then at the hearing he ju...st goes up to the DA and postpones the hearing until the next month. This cycle repeated for me until a 5th hearing. And in between these postponements, he still never called to discuss anything about my case. You ask him for the same info at each hearing and you NEVER get an answer. He acts like he is so busy, running from court to court. He was late to every court hearing of mine, leaving me (and his other clients) to WAIT nervously on him for hours-wondering if he is even going to show up. He tells me as a new client he was going to work hard to get case dismissed. I am starting to believe that is his way of tearing his clients down mentally, by having them show up at the hearings, postpone it, and then still not call them to discuss the case at all. At my 4th hearing, he and the Harris County DA lady totally blind sided me and pressured me to take a plea deal offer--right then--take it then or they won't offer that good of plea deal on the next hearing date. WHAT? DOES THAT SOUND LIKE JUSTICE TO YOU? I talked to his other clients during the times I was at the court house, and they all are complaining the same thing about him, no return phone calls, no discussion of their case and they don't know what's going on either. As you see on this report, this atty has been reprimanded for deceptive actions and put on probation. We didn't find this webpage till after we had paid him $. IF HE HAS DONE YOU WRONG AS A CLIENT, PLEASE write him up on this board. I feel all his cases should be reviewed. He was the biggest mistake I ever made, and he got me a guilty verdict by making the DA mad at me with whatever he was telling her at each postponement. I did not get FAIR justice from him, nor the DA's office.
