0 out of 10 I wouldn’t recommend

omg I spent 18 months in jail for something that I did not do. I hired Clay after firing a lawyer that mislead me and took money from me. I explained to Clay’s paralegal Christina my concerns before giving her a payment. After being paid I was then told when I was scheduled for visits that Clay does ...NOT meet his clients physically in jail. And for the jail visits he sends his paralegal as a stalling tactic but she knows nothing about your case at all! Neither does Clay! It seems he has more than he can handle. He also tried to peer pressure me into signing for jail time just to get me off his case load. They made sure to communicate for payments but never for lawyer visits or case updates. Clay states he doesn’t really deal with the client until trial. I was told this later on, not upfront! I’m glad I’m assertive and not easily swayed because I would have sign for something I didn’t do with them as representation! They didnt care about me at all as a black man trying not to become a statistic in the system. Ultimately he did get my cases dismissed but the in between hassle, disrespect, disappointment, and lack of communication with him and his team is not worth it! Find someone else. He’s not worth a penny!

I WON YOUR CASES AND GOT THEM DISMISSED! Your cases were Aggravated Charges in which nothing about them are easy regardless of your beliefs and I had them DISMISSED. I as the attorney had many jail visits with you, you were facing major time in prison. Your cases were dismissed because I destroyed the State of Texas’s cases and the Assistant District Attorney in a hearing, not because they believed you were innocent. They wanted you in prison for decades. I set you free by my actions, you did not even say a word. I did it ALL. I fought a long time to free you and won. Just because you were innocent did not mean the state folds their case and dismisses the charges, they believed you were guilty, they charged you, indicted you and were ready to send you to prison until I DESTROYED their case, I ACCOMPLISHED THAT FEAT, NOT YOU. If it was so easy why didn’t you represent yourself? You also mention firing another attorney, self awareness is a powerful thing to have. You admit I got your cases DISMISSED yet I’m worthless as an attorney and not worth hiring per you. That makes zero sense but exactly what I expected from you. The criminal justice system is slow and the court controls their calendar, not the defense attorney, I fought every day for you and you are FREE because of my work and the absolute Destruction I caused to the State of Texas charges against you, not because the State of Texas believed in your innocence. Three attorneys in that court that witnessed my performance that day in court and said they had never seen anything like it and you were lucky I was your attorney. Even the court staff agreed. Four defendants in the audience hired me after watching my performance destroying your cases and getting you set free. Three of their cases already dismissed. Some people can’t or won’t understand defense attorneys do not control the calendar of a District Court, however we can control our actions when that moment comes where your life would change for the worst in prison or better while free. My performance set you FREE! Thanks for the review, it reminds me to weed out ungrateful individuals where nothing I as an attorney or human being can do for them including setting them FREE instead of decades in prison gets that attorney appreciation. Sad part is I select 10 people each month regardless of case to help them pro Bono because they need an attorney who cares more about them than money. I still will keep doing that because their are a lot more people out there that need me as their attorney or their life could end in a jail cell. People like you will not deter me or my dedication to my clients. I wish you peace and enjoy the FREEDOM I WON for YOU!

Good Attorney but Horrible Company

It is good communicating with Eric Clay, an easy-going professional lawyer. But you have very limited chance to talk with him. The company's management is horrible. They will play tricks to move an extremely simple case to trial just in order for additional legal fee. After charging your trial f...ee, they will disclose the news that the DA decide to dismiss your case. You can not get any refunding according to the "pre-designed" contract. The worst thing is they dared to charge your card arbitrarily without your agreement for any amount beyond the contract.

I honestly can’t believe this review, it must be either from another jealous attorney or an incredibly ignorant ex client that I was able to secure a DISMISSAL on their charges right before TRIAL! No case in the criminal justice system is guaranteed a dismissal nor can any attorney guarantee a client one, that’s unethical and I refuse to do that. Many attorneys do just that to get money, I have never behaved that way. I am absolutely honest, my record of DISMISSALS speaks for itself. As for a case being set for trial and being dismissed right before trial that is due to my hard work and dedication to my clients, not because the case was easy and tricks used. That’s just ridiculous and ignorant and not how the criminal justice system works. If this ex client is who I believe it is you are completely wrong and I secured a dismissal on your case before trial because of my hard work and refusing to give an inch, not because the DA’s Office didn’t believe you were guilty. There were witnesses lined up to testify to guilt. I just out worked them and you are extremely lucky I was your attorney or you would have a conviction right now and your rights and freedom stripped. If a case is set for trial it’s not due to tricks, it’s because the DA’s Office believes they can secure a guilty verdict or no plea agreement can be had. That means I had to work to prepare for that trial and keep fighting the charges. Why on earth would you even think you should get a refund for the hard work that I already performed just because I was able to secure a dismissal? Did you want the State of Texas to issue you an apology as well? Guess what, they won’t. You were arrested, charged, probable cause found and eventually we got our trial date to fight like hell to win, I WON by securing that Dismissal right on the eve of trial. That’s not easy to do, you are completely ignorant of the criminal justice system if you believe that’s a simple thing to accomplish. Yes, I had to prepare for the trial itself and be ready the day of trial, I did and secured a dismissal because of my dedication to you and your future. Nor does my firm charge fees not owed. Not once, ever. Everything is in writing. Everything. Instead of gratitude for ME securing YOU a DISMISSAL I get this low class ignorant review. This type of entitled behavior is exactly why hard working dedicated attorneys like myself turn away clients like you and you get stuck with either an inexperienced lawyer or one who just doesn’t care and only wants your money. That’s not me, I care, I fight like hell and I won your case. Good luck in the future, I’m sure you’ll need it.
