Lance’s practice focuses on representing taxpayers before the IRS and Federal courts in matters involving audits, appeals, collection and litigation. Lance left the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in 2007 after serving as a Senior Attorney. As a Senior Attorney, Lance litigated cases on behalf of the government and advised Revenue Agents and Revenue Officers in their investigations. Prior to his government career, Lance practiced with Nistico & Crouch. Lance also worked for Jackson Lewis LLP representing clients with employee benefit audits and litigation.

Lance earned his law degree with honors from the University of Houston, where he also received his Masters of Business Administration.

Due to tax matters touching on several other practice areas, Lance also assists certain clients as an outside general counsel.

Excellent Expenditure of Time and Treasure
Lance did a very thorough and informative transcript research for us. As an Oil & Gas Attorney, I appreciated the administrative links he made to events listed on our transcripts. Lance laid out a plan that we could follow on our own, but assured us we could retain his firm's services if we found ourselves needing help. Great experience and I will recommend him to my energy clients.

Grateful For Lance
I never thought my wife and I would need a Tax Attorney, I was wrong. Lance Stodghill came highly recommended by a circle of friends and he did not disappoint. After our first meeting, I had full confidence that Lance was well versed on Current IRS Laws and had the knowledge, tools and experiance to help me out of a BIG problem. Lance clearly outlined my options, and after deciding the best path to resolution he successfully navigated communications with the IRS keeping me informed of every step. I never felt in the dark or left out. Lance was always just a phone call away, and our meetings were quick and precise giving me a level of comfort I greatly appreciated. My wife and I are grateful for Lance Stodghill and we highly recommend his services. I hope I don't need to call Lance again, but trust me, his number will never leave my contacts.

A lawyer on your side.
Audits are messy, but when the IRS accuses you of Employee Misclassification - the mess is more than you can handle. Lance is helpful, honest and kind. His inside knowledge of the IRS code and process is priceless. His staff is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Lance and his team not only defended my case and won but he has continued to provide guidance to make sure I remain aboveboard. He cares about his clients (and from what I can tell people in general) and his actions prove that it isn't just the firm's tag line but a core value. I hope you never need a tax attorney, but if you do I cannot recommend a better one than Lance.

Straight Shooter - Great Value
Lance and his team have helped me to solve tax issues related to a business when my partner failed to follow the law. I have also referred others to Lance and team – they have been satisfied by the result. Lance spent several years at the IRS, not as an agent, but as an attorney taking cases to Federal court. He knows the system, he knows the players and he knows how to make it work for you. Here is the hardest - but best - part of working with Lance: He is a straight shooter who won't waste your time or waste your money or raise your hopes while pursuing a strategy he knows can't be won. He'll tell you the honest truth upfront because he truly cares that his clients achieve the best possible result. You're up against the IRS? This is your guy. This is your team.

Lance represented us not only in an Offer to Compromise, but also in an audit.
Lance and his staff were incredible. He got us a fabulous deal on an Offer to Compromise and basically defeated an audit the IRS sprung on us. I am a lawyer and could not give a higher rating to a fellow lawyer; and I mean that.
