John R. Shepperd

I grew up in a small central Texas town where the cattle far outnumber the people.  The youngest of eight children, my twin brother and I were fiercely competitive as we vied to stand out among our classmates, our family and each other.  Ultimately, he became a college professor and Fulbright Scholar, and I became a trial attorney.  I began my practice in east Texas but eventually moved to Houston where I could handle cases against the best in the country.  Nevertheless, I still enjoy litigating in rural locales.

I have first-chaired more than 50 jury trials to verdict.  Most of those cases involved catastrophic injuries or death.  I am Board Certified in Personal Injury Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and I am a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates at the level of Advocate.  In addition, I have published articles within my field, with my most recent article appearing in the The Journal of Nurse Practitioners.

For nearly 30 years, I focused my practice on defending professionals such as doctors, lawyers, accountants, real estate agents and insurance agents.  But as my reputation and experience have grown, I've seen an influx of all kinds of cases involving substantial damages.

When not practicing law, I enjoy spending time with my family as well as endurance sports such as long distance running, hiking and backpacking.
