Represented approximately 85 plaintiffs who were exposed to solvents, heavy metals, asbestos and radioactive materials as a result of working at the Corpus Christi Army Depot in Corpus Christi, Texas a ... gainst approximately 75 defendants. The case pitted a small group of workers against the largest companies and law firms in this country. The case went to the Texas Supreme Court three times in 1 Â½ years on mandamus issues. After numerous legal battles over a four year period, the case was settled in 1999 against all named defendants. The amount of settlement was confidential.

OUTCOME: Settled in November of 1998.

After an extensive screening, and interview process, the Pleasantville Civic League, retained the renowned trial attorney, Mr. Willie Gary, of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Finney, Lewis & McManus of Stuart ... , Florida, who was recently featured on 60 Minutes, to represent approximately 2,500 residents of Pleasantville. Mr. Gary selected Mr. Maierson as his local counsel to assist him and his firm in the representation of the Pleasantville residents who were exposed to the combustion by-products from hundreds of hazardous chemicals that were stored in a warehouse destroyed by fire during the summer of 1995. The case was originally filed in State court and in 1996 removed to federal court. After 3 years of intensive litigation involving seven hundred thousand documents and over 100 depositions, including some in Italy, the case was settled against all defendants in November of 1998 for $17,227,000.

Case Manager for a group of approximately 3500 plaintiffs who were exposed to toxic hydrocarbon fumes, vapors, and combustion by-products as a result of the Colonial and Texaco pipeline ruptures, explo ... sions and subsequent fires that occurred on the San Jacinto River on October 20-24, 1994. Many plaintiffs also had property damage claims from the smoke and residue from the fire. The case was settled in 1997 for $11,200,000.

This case was settled in various stages, with the plaintiff receiving settlement funds from various Defendants in 1991, 1993, and 1994. The amounts of these settlements are confidential. As Lead Counsel, Mr. Maierson obtained a judgment against French, Ltd. in January 1994 in the amount of $5,000,000.

Lead Counsel for 129 Curette plaintiffs and case manager for 1,700 Avalos plaintiffs who were residents of Barrett Station in east Harris County and complained of various health problems and diminution ... of property value as a result of living in close proximity to the Sikes and French, Ltd. Superfund sites. The suit was against over 70 defendants who dumped toxic and hazardous material at these two sites, and the owners and operators of the sites. This case had over 25 retained experts who filed reports and many were deposed during the four years of litigation. The case was settled and the amount is confidential. In addition, a $25,000,000 judgment against French, Ltd. was obtained in Federal Court in favor of the Curette and Avalos plaintiffs.
