Michelle Rice has devoted her practice to aggressively pursuing the rights of injured clients. Ms. Rice has successfully litigated numerous cases in both state and federal courts. Her practice focuses on a wide range of civil litigation areas, including personal injury, wrongful death, automobile and trucking accidents, medical malpractice, products liability, premises liability, and workplace injuries.
A native of Allegany, New York, Ms. Rice has spent over a decade in Houston after moving here for law school in 2009. While in law school, Ms. Rice clerked at three plaintiff’s law firms, including a boutique medical malpractice firm, a mass tort pharmaceutical litigation firm, and Abraham Watkins. After law school, Ms. Rice gained valuable experience at an insurance defense firm where she represented insurance carriers in first- and third-party insurance matters involving suspected insurance fraud, coverage questions, bad faith allegations, and uninsured/underinsured motorist litigation. Prior to joining the firm as an Associate in January 2017, Ms. Rice worked as a contract attorney for firm partner, Mo Aziz. In January 2021, Ms. Rice was promoted to Senior Associate and became the first female attorney to serve as a member of the firm's Management Committee in the firm's 70 year history.
From October 2017 to present, Ms. Rice has been involved in litigation arising out of the October 1, 2017 mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ms. Rice, along with several lawyers across the country, was instrumental in securing an $800,000,000 global settlement on behalf of more than 4,400 relatives and victims of the mass shooting. Ms. Rice and another firm partner represent over 1,100 of the claimants in the litigation. The settlement is the largest of its kind for a mass shooting in the United States.
Ms. Rice is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and is admitted to all federal district courts in Texas. She is involved in the legal community as a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, Houston Trial Lawyers Association, Houston Young Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and Association of Women Attorneys.
